Legal Officer

Who You'll Work With:

This role helps support both the Bernstein Private Wealth Management legal team (BPWM legal), including head Mara Kennedy (NY), Mike Jones (Nash), Carin MacAllister (Nash) and Chelsea DeFebbo (Nash) as well as the AB Alternatives legal team (Alts legal), including head Leon Hirth (Nash) and team. The role reports to John Hession, Global Head of PWM Legal, Alts Legal and Institutional Legal.

What You'll Do:

AB is looking for a qualified and experienced legal officer to support the attorneys in the Private Wealth Management and Alternatives legal groups of AB. This is a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

To execute your responsibilities, you must be comfortable managing competing priorities, acting independently and providing thoughtful, well-reasoned guidance in nuanced circumstances so that we meet legal and regulatory requirements, our fiduciary responsibilities, and client expectations. Your exceptional interpersonal communication skills will help you as you collaboratively problem-solve situations to meet the expectations of demanding clients.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Draft and maintain legal forms and templates including those related to account management, administration, referral arrangements, non-disclosure agreements;

• Assist in logging, maintaining, categorizing and filing client complaint records;

• Manage internal processes, including internal requests, pre-clearance forms, and email correspondence logs;

• Act as liaison to business teams regarding legal inquiry intake, documentation and onboarding processes;

• Coordinate and lead the forming of legal entities and maintenance of related records; and

• Assist with regulatory filings associated with investment funds and preparation of board meeting materials

What We're Looking For:

Our ideal candidate will have at least four years of experience in a corporate-oriented law practice group with familiarity with electronic document management systems. The ideal candidate will be a fast learner, intellectually curious about U.S. and global financial products and services and willing to learn new areas of the law and compliance as they relate to these rapidly evolving businesses. Prior experience with investment management, private investment funds and/or litigation-oriented practice groups and prior Big Law or in-house experience is preferred.

Maturity, pragmatism, good judgment, and business sense, a strong work ethic, and an ability to inspire confidence are keys to success in this position. Our candidate must also enjoy working collaboratively (i.e., business colleagues, with other attorneys, advisors, compliance professionals, etc.) to solve complex issues in a commercial manner on tight timeframes.

Salary Disclosure (Insert only if roles are to be located or posted in NY, California, Washington, Colorado,)

In accordance with applicable law, the minimum and maximum base annual salary for this role is as follows:

Base Salary Range: $70,000 to $85,000

Actual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base salary is just one component of total compensation at AB, which may include, depending on eligibility, commissions, year-end incentive compensation, short- and long-term incentives and Department-specific awards.
