POSITION SUMMARY
Vericel is a leading provider of advanced therapies for the sports medicine and severe burn care markets. The Company has an exciting new opportunity for a 1L or 2L law student looking to grow and learn more about working in a legal capacity within the Biotech/Medtech industry. This internship opportunity is being offered by the Vericel Legal Department. The Legal Intern will be responsible for providing general legal and compliance support to the Legal Department. The position requires superior critical thinking and the ability to issue spot and exercise good judgment and discretion.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Assist the Legal Department on legal tasks related to: commercial agreements and licensing, corporate transactions, intellectual property, and SEC filings.
Perform legal research as needed on issues important to the Company, legal, compliance and regulatory matters, and provide support for ongoing legal projects.
Prepare contracts involving confidentiality, clinical trials, amendments to existing agreements, purchases, sales, and other matters.
Work with members of the Legal Department on document review and comment, and contracts and corporate records management.
Review and update corporate policies.
Provide departmental general support.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Ongoing coursework towards a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school is required.
Prior experience in, or coursework concerning, the life sciences or healthcare, business, paralegal services, contract review, or litigation support, is strongly preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Strong computer skills including MS Office.
Self-motivated and able to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
