TDS Telecom is seeking a Legal Intern to work closely with the five attorneys within TDS Telecom's Legal Department, which provides legal services to TDS Telecom and its subsidiaries as well as TDS Telecom's sister company, OneNeck IT Solutions

Targeted Start Date: January 2020

Schedule: We offer flexible scheduling because we understand that school comes first. You would get to work 10-15 hours per week during the school year with potential to work full-time during the summer months

We anticipate that the legal intern will have the opportunity to assist with some or all of the following activities, under the close supervision of and in conjunction with the TDS Telecom attorneys

  • Research/review/analyze legal issues and questions submitted by internal departments on topics ranging from contract negotiation and drafting, employment/HR issues, state and federal regulation, government contracting, privacy/HIPAA/GDPR, and commercial real estate transactions;

  • Review and revise corporate contracts and participate in contract negotiations;

  • Review and revise corporate contract templates;

  • Review and analyze existing customer contracts and implement compliance plans;

  • Review and suggest improvements to the company's legal processes, procedures and policies; and

  • Research/review/analyze Federal Acquisition Regulations and other rules and regulations that apply to federal government (sub)contractors.


Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a JD student or accepted to an accredited law school

Other Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skil

  • Ability to work independently

  • Detail oriented

  • Strong analytical problem solving skills and critical thinking

  • Ability to plan and organize multiple tasks and problem solve

  • Solid work ethic and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines

  • Previous work experience in a business or corporate setting

SWIB is seeking a student intern to work with the legal team. The intern will work up to 40 hours per week during the summer and may continue to work 10-15 hours per week during the school year. This paid position provides an opportunity to work on a variety of transactional legal projects involving legal research, contract review, and agency policies. Essential activities: * Conduct legal research and draft memoranda in areas of law that relate to SWIB's business, including in securities, tax, partnership, limited liability entity, and fiduciary law. * Work with SWIB's internal legal team to support investment transactions in hedge funds, private equity, real estate and public equity. * Review and revise agreements with external business partners and vendors. * Assist in drafting and review of transaction documentation. * Assist in review, analysis and completion of legal and tax forms and certificates. * Assist in responding to requests for public records. * Create and maintain subject matter files on relevant topics and legal issues.
