Textron Systems' Legal Development Program is a 2-year rotational program designed to grow legal professionals by rotating them through a series of diverse assignments meant to broaden their technical capabilities and/or business acumen, and increase collaboration across the organization. Participants in the Legal Development Program will have two rotational assignments throughout a 24 month program commitment.
Participants should have no more than three years of experience at Textron Systems and should be currently based at, or be willing to move to, the Hunt Valley, Maryland campus. Participants will be under the guidance and leadership of the Textron Systems SVP General Counsel or other General Counsel.
The rotations will be in individual contributor, salaried positions within the following areas of the Legal Department Legal (Gov't Contracts) and Export/Import Compliance. Participants will also complete project-based work to increase their knowledge-base within the legal department.
Each participant's experience will be unique and personalized based on their career interests and business needs and they should expect to build a strong professional network through their rotations.
The Legal/Contract rotation will provide exposure to a broad array of hands-on opportunities in the areas of U.S. Government contracts (e.g., FAR Part 15 and 12), related subcontracts, commercial contracts, litigation/disputes, facilities/leases, intellectual property, NDAs, regulatory audits, contract negotiations, legal training, employment/labor, ethics & compliance, and/or other areas to meet business needs. Responsibilities will include identifying risks and providing subsequent mitigation strategies, supporting complex transactions and providing expertise in the areas referenced above.
The Export/Import Compliance rotation will proactively handle export/import compliance matters for AAI Corporation as assigned. The successful candidate will interact with employees at all levels and will work both independently and with other members of the Legal, Contracts and Compliance Department staff on a variety of interesting international trade compliance matters. This role requires successful management of a broad range of responsibilities in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Successful candidate will work directly with her or his business counterparts, other legal and compliance staff, and the Textron Systems General Counsel.
The successful candidate must be approachable, have excellent communication skills, and be a business partner.
The successful candidate will function as a member of the Textron Systems legal department in Hunt Valley, MD.
