WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Legal team supports every area of our business and there's a huge variety of work in meeting the changing needs of a sports and entertainment agency. Wasserman is involved in sponsorships and activations, strategic and commercial consultancy, event creation and delivery, rights sales and acquisitions, talent representation, music, digital and social media, PR and communications, hospitality and live experiences.

You'll be based in our London office (in Victoria, with flexi home working) and will handle your own workload, as well as assisting other members of the wider Legal team. The team in London focus on Wasserman's interests in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific and the role is at the forefront of supporting the business, with a proven track record for growth and development.

You'll progress to become a key business partner and "go to" point of contact for stakeholders within the business, predominantly focussed on our Brands, Live, Rights Sales and Hospitality businesses across a full range of sports and entertainment clients and projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing proactive and commercial legal advice and assistance, predominantly focussed on our Brands, Live, Rights Sales and Hospitality business in EMEA & APAC.

• Drafting and negotiating the full suite of commercial contracts required by a full-service sports and entertainment agency (including agreements with our wide range of clients and suppliers, strategic partnerships, sponsorships, talent, appearances, rights brokering, event staging and delivery).

• Advising on a range of matters relating to the running, hosting and/or promotion of events, including ticketing matters, event terms and conditions and supplier agreements.

• Providing pragmatic and clear advice and support in relation to the implementation of, and ongoing compliance with, applicable legislation and guidelines.

• Responsibilities for other legal duties consistent with the role (maintaining/updating template documents, effecting best-in-class legal processes, managing external counsel appropriately, and delivering knowhow/training across the business).

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU NEED

Mandatory:

• Fully qualified solicitor holding a current practicing certificate.

• A minimum of 2-3+ PQE, with a focus on commercial law and contracts*.

• First-rate communication and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.

Useful but not mandatory:

• Experience of the sports and entertainment sector and/or an in-house legal department.

• Knowledge beyond commercial law (particularly data protection, or otherwise in areas such as dispute resolution, corporate or employment).

• Trained and qualified in private practice.
