Ricoh Electronics, Inc. (REI) is seeking a self-motivated Legal Assistant/Paralegal. Using good judgement and initiative, this position, located in Lawrenceville, will provide administrative support to our Corporate Legal department.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the Legal department on day-to-day matters. Communicate with internal/external customers, vendors, suppliers, auditors and other representatives to resolve requests, complaints, and issues or refer them appropriately.
Recommend course of action to internal customers to resolve routine problems and explain the legal rationale behind suggested steps.
Maintain legal database for contracts and monitor the status of expiring contracts and track the renewal process.
Review, research, and collect supporting documents for open legal issues. Assist in document discovery/e-discovery by searching for key terms, compiling relevant documents and submitting to outside attorneys. Research and provide basic evaluations of all intellectual property, including trademarks, patents and copyrights.
Compile Legal Division financial data and assist in the preparation of the annual budget. Track budget and prepare monthly budget reports.
Perform administrative activities to support the Legal Division including drafting, preparing or assembling a variety of documents including presentations, spreadsheets, and reports; coordinating and scheduling meetings, appointments, conference calls, and travel arrangements.
Coordinate projects for the Legal Division and track activities to ensure compliance with deadlines.
Maintain corporate minutes for board meetings. Responsible for Intellectual property renewals for trademarks (every 15 years).
Qualified candidates will possess
Bachelors' degree in business or equivalent experience required. Paralegal certification or course work preferred.
4-6 years' legal administrative experience required.
Must have very good reading comprehension, writing and math skills as well as strong oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Must have very good organizational and time management skills and be detail-oriented.
Intermediate to advanced Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
Strong knowledge of legal reference materials, legal research methods and legal terminology. Familiarity with legal document databases preferred.
