POSITION TITLE: Legal Assistant
LOCATION: Stigler, Haskell County
STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Immediate Opening
CLOSING: Open Until Filled
SALARY: Commensurate With Experience and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY: General legal assistant to provide logistical support to the District Attorney and/or Assistant District Attorney for the Haskell County Office.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The qualified candidate must have at least three years' experience of office work, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with standard computer software, such as Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn more complex computer programs.
Self-motivation to take on daily tasks without always being prompted, as well as the ability to extend professionalism to the public are requirements, as well.
A general understanding of accounting procedures is a plus.
Paralegal certification or experience is preferred, but not required.
Duties include, but are not limited to: secretarial duties, maintaining general office files and records, typing official meeting minutes, handling mail, answering phones, composing important correspondence, and managing accounts payable and accounts receivable (paying bills, receiving and depositing payments made to the office, etc.). Additionally, this position involves interaction with the public, government officials and employees, judges, and attorneys. The office is paperless, so all files are maintained in a digital filing cabinet, and all legal documents are generated through a separate prosecutorial computer program.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Three years' experience in an office setting and proficiency with both basic and semi-complex computer programs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency with computers, ability to multitask.
