A Legal Assistant who is highly skilled and motivated will be able to grow their legal career in this growing legal department. This long term temporary-to-fulltime Legal Assistant employment is based in the Quincy, Massachusetts area.   • Manage hard copies of documents, as well as the electronic document system

  • Contribute to the preparation of exhibit binders for depositions, trials, and hearings

  • Keep maintenance of the case calendar and observance of deadlines

  • Draw up various documents and correspondence

  • Collaborate with attorneys on client intake and key discovery

  • Uphold the standards of confidentiality at all times

  • Provide special reception, as well as secretarial support

  • Produce court filings, either on paper and electronically as required

  • Take incoming phone calls and lend an extra ear with handling high volume phone lines

  • Efficiently organize correspondence and pleadings, arrange for service on parties


  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills

  • Eagerness to take initiative and learn quickly

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • Knowledgeable with Internet research, calendaring, word processing and spreadsheets

  • Previous legal work experience and a dedication to integrity

  • Expertise in filing litigation

  • Filing experience desired

  • Foundational knowledge in scheduling

  • Typing 45 - 60 words per minute experience

  • Incoming phone call management skills desired

Role Overview As the Legal Contract Specialist you will provide professional assistance to a team of in-house lawyers and other members within the DST and SS&C enterprise. You will work independently to draft and negotiate various service contracts and related amendments. In your role you will collaborate with various Legal team members, Sales, Finance, and external counsel. Responsibilities * Working independently in drafting and negotiating contracts and related documents, including agency, software license, vendor and other contracts and various amendments with respect to the foregoing. * Subject matter expert with a strong understanding of the business, legal, financial, and technical requirements of the transaction. * Consults and advises senior management in various business units. * Key part of the contracts team for complex contracts and issues which can commonly involve using client paper (contract). * Knowledgeable about services provided and provides thoughts based on prior transactions for alternatives to challenging negotiation points. * Determines and produces documents for transaction attorney review (e.g. non-disclosure agreements, trial agreements, letters of intent, service agreements and licenses of various types) as required. * Assists the sales group in providing responses to Requests for Proposal, Requests for Information, etc. * Works with business unit attorney to negotiate contracts, and respond to client comments on various agreements * Managing projects for the legal department. * Maintaining documentation in the company's electronic filing system for contracts. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree and 3 years of work-related experience, or Master's degree and 1 year of work-related experience, or 5 years equivalent work-related experience * Paralegal certification preferred * 5+ years' experience contracting (including drafting and negotiating), paralegal, or related experience * Public company legal department and/or equivalent experience is preferred * Certified Notary Public a plus * High level proficiency Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat * Experience with DocuSign and SharePoint a plus * High degree of organizational skills and professionalism * Ability to work in a team-orientated environment and meet tight deadlines * Project management and time management skills Location: Kansas City Missouri DST is an equal opportunity employer and values a diverse and inclusive workplace.
