What part will you play?

DC Entertainment seeks a Legal Affairs Coordinator for the Legal Affairs department.

  • Maintains and manages the legal department's records, including its document management system (eDocs) including adding to the underlying validation tables (Property, Contracting Party, Talent Name, Title, etc.) as needed, deleting and maintaining a record of deleted documents, approving new users and making sure all users' level of access is appropriate to their business needs.

  • Prepares and distributes various reports throughout the company, including key-date reports, reversion reports, and media exploitation reports to ensure that the company takes appropriate actions within specific time frames.

  • Scans and enters backlog copyright registrations, other documents, and memoranda into eDocs.

  • Performs chain of title research, including confirming character first appearances, identities of creators, locating pertinent copyright registrations and applicable talent agreements, and generating COT reports.

  • Prepares international and subsidiary rights agreements, and crossover agreements, and related amendments, extensions and notices of expiration.

  • Prepares character equity agreements, standard releases, and copyright assignments.

  • Provides back-up coverage for the file clerk to retrieve files.

  • Other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

What do we require from you?

  • College degree or equivalent experience required.

  • Minimum of one year related experience in a business environment preferred.

  • Must be highly computer literate, with a particular emphasis on working with database systems.

  • Prior experience creating and maintaining document filing systems preferred.

  • Must be very fluent with the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.

  • Familiarity with Open Text's Enterprise DOCS/eDOCS DM software and Adobe Acrobat preferred.

  • Prior experience in a law firm or corporate legal environment preferred.

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to handle multiple, high priority tasks with minimal supervision.
