Legal Administrative Assistant
Job Location: Hackensack, NJ
Role Value Proposition:
The House Counsel office for MetLife represents the companys insureds in lawsuits that are based in central to northern New Jersey. Specifically covering counties from Bergen to Middlesex. This role is for a Legal Administrative Assistantwho is experienced in litigation administration for personal injury lawsuits.This position represents an opportunity for an experienced candidate to refine and improve new systems and processes, and add value to the team of attorneys as an experienced legal support professional.
Proficient in New JerseyNo Fault and Bodily Injury defense (auto and premises)
Experience infiling in New Jersey's court system.(specifically E-filing)
Actively support a team of attorneys in all aspects of complex litigation matters, including legal research and preparation of cases from discovery to trial
Drafting answers, responses and demands for discovery and various motions, drafting AAA arbitration submissions
Maintain appropriate communication with claims adjusters and clients
Liaise between attorneys, claims representatives and court officials
Routinely update and track case information with Time Matters Management system
Request, review, and analyze medical/legal records
Minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in a busy high volume defense/plaintiffs firm
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
Paralegal certification preferred
Knowledge of No Fault and Bodily Injury law (auto and premises)
Computer literate in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, e-law, e-courts and Practice Management systems
Typing and calendaring
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
