Who We Are
The Mission of the Denver District Attorney's Office is to professionally and completely prosecute crimes and investigate potential crimes on behalf of the people of the State of Colorado, and in doing so, do justice, advocate for victims' rights and advise and consult in the deterrence and prevention of crime; to ensure the open, evenhanded and humane administration of justice. The office employs approximately 100 attorneys and 150 support staff, who are responsible for more than 6,000 felony and 12,000 misdemeanor prosecutions annually. The elected District Attorney is the chief law enforcement officer in the City and County of Denver, and is responsible for the prosecution of violations of Colorado State Laws. The current Denver District Attorney is Beth McCann.

Location
This position reports on site from 8:00AM to 5:00PM at the Republic Plaza building located at 370 17th St suite 5300 Denver, CO 80202.
What You'll Do
The District Attorney's Office for the City and County of Denver has an exciting opportunity available as a Legal Administrative Assistant. This position will be split between the Human Trafficking Unit and the Conviction Review Unit. This position performs secretarial duties utilizing legal terminology, procedures and documents. The Denver District Attorney's Office is the chief law enforcement/prosecuting office in the Second Judicial District of Colorado. Led by District Attorney Beth McCann, the Denver District Attorney's Office is responsible for prosecuting all felonies, misdemeanors and serious traffic offenses committed in Denver. The Denver District Attorney also provides assistance to victims and witnesses of crime.
The job duties will include:
Human Trafficking Unit:
Processing case materials received from law enforcement and grand jury to ensure timely discovery to defense
Reviewing each case for relevant protective motions in compliance with office policy
Communicates and troubleshoots with defense counsel when discovery questions or issues arise
Facilitates viewing of sensitive materials that are not discoverable
Updating all cases with appropriate subpoenas and documentation after each court date
Maintaining updated contact information for victims and witnesses while protecting confidential information
Generates and files all necessary paperwork on cases
Tasks attorneys, investigators and advocate when new cases are filed
Assists as needed with DATA (Denver Anti-Trafficking Alliance) related administrative tasks

About You
What You'll Bring
Our ideal candidate possesses the following capabilities. You do not need to be an expert in these areas, just a desire to learn and a proven track record of developing expertise.
At least one (1) year of legal clerical experience
Customer service experience, ability to work with diverse groups and communities
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Extensive experience working with Outlook, Word and Excel
Data entry skills
Interest in working in a fast-paced environment
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of general clerical experience including One (1) year of legal clerical experience preparing legal documents such as: amendments, summonses, discovery orders, citations, motions and pleadings.
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
