Florida Blue is seeking an energetic and motivated Legal Assistant to join our Corporate Affairs group in our Jacksonville office.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide general administrative support to in-house counsel and legal professionals

  • Coordinate conferences and meetings, maintain calendars and prepare materials such as presentations, spreadsheets and agendas

  • Prepare reports and correspondence requiring general knowledge of legal terminology and document formats (e.g. contracts, memorandums, etc.)

  • Receive, screen and handle telephone calls, incoming mail/email, publications and other correspondence, much of which is confidential or sensitive in nature

  • Organize and maintain all files relating to legal matters

  • Interact effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside of the Company in a professional and confidential manner

The successful candidate will possess the following traits and skillset:

  • Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills;

  • Be highly organized and detail-oriented;

  • Ability to take direction and work independently with little or no supervision as well as part of a team;

  • Ability to handle complex assignments and complete projects under tight deadlines, competing requirements, and changes in assignments; and

  • Strong commitment to client service.

Required Skills:

  • 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination of transferable experience and education. Experience Details: Legal work experience

  • Required Management Experience

  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with preparation of legal documents and agreements

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Advance skills preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Duties * Essential Duty #1 Manage the client service authorization process including reconciling and preparing invoices for payment. * Essential Duty #2 Support accounts payable: complete and submit forms for payment. * Essential Duty #3 Computer/data entry input: billing, timesheets and various projects as assigned. * Essential Duty #4 Assist in generation of reports, including data gathering via the computer system, printed reports or other available information. * Essential Duty #5 Perform typing, filing, record keeping, copying and other clerical assignments as assigned, including answering phones. Additional Duties and Responsibilities * Maintain inventory of office supplies and equipment. Prepare order forms for supplies and equipment. * Collect outgoing mail and prepare for postal service, courier, or overnight service. * Interacts with consumers at the discretion of the VR Counselor or Administrative Staff, to assist consumers with their rehabilitation needs. * Provide Outreach Services to community agencies, medical offices, and religious organizational and support groups by: telephoning and visiting in order to inform them of available services. * Perform Preliminary Assessments on program applicants, which includes assisting applicants through the application process by explaining documentation requirements and potential services and benefits, and coordinate receipt of legibility documentation in order to verify applicants appropriateness for rehabilitation services.
