The Department of Psychology in the College of Science at The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a non-tenure-track (NTT) faculty position to begin Fall 2024. The NTT faculty position is a full-time position at the rank of Lecturer for M.S. or M.A. candidates and Assistant Professor of Instruction rank for Ph.D. candidates. This is a nine-month renewable contract position that will support the degree programs offered in our department in the areas of Psychological Sciences, Health/Neuroscience and Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental fields of study. Candidates specializing in all sub-disciplines of psychology are welcome to apply; however, preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated teaching excellence in general psychology and/or statistics. NTT instructors are expected to teach four courses each fall and spring semester at the undergraduate level, primarily using a face-to-face teaching modality.

Successful candidates should be strongly committed to inclusive teaching practices, undergraduate mentorship, and student success. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have a minimum of a master's degree in psychology, or a closely related field, experience teaching large classes, enthusiasm for working with undergraduates, and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level utilizing active learning and innovative pedagogies.

In addition to teaching, candidates will be expected to contribute to the quality and growth of the department by meeting service expectations of the department, college, and university to promote our undergraduate programs and enhance our students' educational experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates having a Ph.D. in psychology, or a closely related field, and at least two years of experience teaching university-level psychology courses. Familiarity with the Canvas learning management system is also preferred.

Housed within the College of Science, the Psychology Department offers both a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology. The department is comprised of over 1,000 undergraduate psychology majors and approximately 60 graduate students, as well as 9 tenured, 4 tenure-track, and 7 non-tenure-track faculty members. We are a collegial, team-based department and are seeking a new faculty member to join our growing, collaborative group.

UTA provides extensive opportunities for pedagogical professional development. Non-tenure track faculty are eligible to apply for faculty grants for research and travel and are encouraged to present their pedagogical research at educational conferences.
