The Global Village Learning Communities offer a year-long experience in a themed house. There are five themes and courses offered for the 2024/2025 academic year: 1. Race, Gender, and Identity; 2. Sustainability and the Environment; 3. Global Health and medicine; 4. Africana- Gender & the Black Diaspora; and 5. La Casa - Latino/a/x & Caribbean Diasporas. Class is held on Mondays 5:40 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

This course offers students an interdisciplinary and intersectional study of gender, race, citizenship status, socioeconomic, and related constructions of identity, difference, and power that have structured and continue to inform the lived experiences of U.S. and Caribbean people. The course examines the ways in which U.S. Latino and Caribbean populations have been and continue to be shaped by the legacies of colonialism, globalization, cultural, and political changes, in historical and contemporary contexts, and in global and local settings. The course provides an expressly interdisciplinary environment for learning, drawing widely on academic traditions in the social sciences and the humanities. Students gain tools to critically analyze and engage our world and to enact change in their communities and professions.
