Thank you for your interest in employment with Louisiana Tech University.

The Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineering Technology (ICET) Program in the College of Engineering and Science at Louisiana Tech University seeks a teaching-focused faculty member who enjoys working in an applied setting. The ICET curriculum includes topics commonly found in mechanical and electrical engineering programs.

All ICET courses are taught using a studio format where systems-level projects are implemented as students learn fundamental topics. Example projects include a mobile robot, a canister oven, a pen plotter, a thermoelectric energy system, a pneumatic control project, a CNC router, and multiple PLC projects where students utilize their own trainer for measurement and control applications. While most of the students in the College of Engineering and Science major in one of our eight engineering disciplines, the ICET Program provides an applied option for those who learn better by doing. The ICET Program has doubled in size over the past year and is catching the attention of regional and national employers.

We are searching for a faculty member who enjoys working closely with students, has a keen interest in learning about technology solutions, and possesses a strong background in engineering fundamentals. The ideal candidate should have a doctorate in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.

However, applicants with at least 18 graduate semester hours in a related discipline and significant industrial experience in instrumentation and/or controls are also encouraged to apply. Specific areas of expertise sought include PLC applications, electromechanical systems, and integration of industrial measurement instruments, actuators, and networks. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of student projects and application-focused curricula. Our existing faculty is mostly composed of teaching-focused faculty members who collaborate to improve and grow the ICET Program.

The vision of the College of Engineering and Science is to be a world leader in integrating engineering and science in education and research. The College opened a new $40M integrated engineering and science education facility in November 2019 and is undertaking an aggressive recruiting campaign to attract culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber.

To build a diverse workforce the College encourages applications from individuals with disabilities, minorities, veterans, and women. Louisiana Tech is a doctoral-granting public institution that enrolls over 11,000 students from 47 states and 64 foreign countries. More information about the ICET program, as well as the academic setting, can be found by following the link from the College of Engineering & Science website: https://coes.latech.edu/.
