The Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applicants for a full-time lecturer in SLHS position to begin in the fall of 2024.

MSU Denver is a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and the only Seal of Excelencia certified institution in Colorado. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team that includes four full-time faculty, three full-time clinical educators, and a talented group of professional staff and part-time affiliates. We offer both an undergraduate degree in speech, language hearing sciences and a graduate degree in speech-language pathology, with an optional concentration in bilingual (Spanish-English) service provision. The Bookhardt Family Speech-Language Clinic is a no-cost, on-campus clinic that supports the greater Denver-metro community. Our department strives to improve how knowledge is translated from the classroom to the clinic by breaking down traditional educational silos.

Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to teach 15 credit hours each semester, with assignments to the undergraduate and/or graduate program depending on departmental need and candidate qualifications and expertise. Teaching includes multiple delivery modes such as in-person, hybrid and asynchronous courses; on-campus teaching is required each semester. Opportunities for course release may be available to support integration/collaboration with the Bookhardt Family Speech-Language Clinic.

Candidates are expected to stay current on Departmental processes related to teaching and clinical education. The candidate is expected to maintain active involvement in professional organizations and/or the community.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in speech-language pathology

  • Certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and at least 2 years of practice post certification

  • Holds or is eligible for SLP license from Colorado's Department of Regulatory Agencies

  • Evidence of university-level teaching experience and/or delivery of continuing education with adult learners

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical doctorate in speech-language pathology or related field

  • Expertise in early intervention, developmental speech-language disorders, voice, and/or acquired communication disorders

  • Professional experience supporting individuals with diverse identities including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, economic status, and immigration status

  • Commitment to increasing access to education/services for under-represented and historically minoritized groups

  • Engagement in interprofessional collaboration

Salary for Announcement

The salary range for this position is $53,000 - $59,000 at Lecturer level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.
