Job Description

The Operations & Information Management (OIM) Department of the Isenberg School of Management invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position, non-tenure track, in Information Systems and Project Management to start in September 2022. The initial appointment will be for two years, with renewal based on performance.

The Lecturer will join a team of faculty noted for excellence and innovation in undergraduate and graduate education. The successful candidate will work with faculty, teaching assistants, and advising staff to assess student outcomes and foster student success.

Requirements

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Information Systems (IS) or a related discipline, such as Operations Management or Computer Science, by September 1, 2022. This full-time position requires teaching six-course sections per academic year.

Teaching responsibilities include courses in Information Systems and Project Management, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and other IS courses as needed. Teaching experience or evidence of expertise in project management, and proficiency in Microsoft Project and Tableau are required. Expertise in data modeling, database management systems, structured query language (SQL), enterprise resource planning, and data warehouses is desirable. Demonstrated ability, or potential, to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in face-to-face and distance education formats is required.

The department has a thriving undergraduate program in Operations & Information Management (with career opportunities in Information Systems and Supply Chain Management), contributes to a highly reputed MBA program, and also coordinates the Ph.D. track in Operations & Information Management for the doctoral program in Business Administration.

Job Summary The IT Systems Analyst consults with end users and stakeholders (Physicians, Clinical Staff, UHS Management, Administrative Staff, Project Managers, Office of Information Technology, vendors, etc.) and conducts technical analysis of systems and network communications to design, build, configure, implement, test and maintain systems. Investigates problems with existing systems and delivers solutions while maintaining system compatibility and enabling integration. Essential Functions * Analyze system workflows to identify potential points of failure, especially those with possible life safety impacts. Recommend and implement systems, system configurations and procedures which mitigate operational and security risks. * Work on multiple projects as a project leader to research, propose and implement strategies. This may entail converting physical servers to virtual servers, facilitating the reconfiguration of networks and firewalls, migration of users and computers to campus Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange, etc. * Ensure appropriate system availability, manageability, scalability, and security by designing, implementing, maintaining, tuning and auditing systems to support AFIT Supported Departments * Keep current with established and emerging computing technologies and techniques in order to recommend and utilize improvements to system manageability and uptime. * Manage system security. Evaluate security risks and take appropriate measures to mitigate. * Recommend infrastructure upgrades, including hardware and wiring improvements. Work with IT, Telecommunications and vendors to implement improvements. * Maintain laboratory, transcriptionist, radiology and pharmacy servers. * Maintain VPN servers. * Manage process for bulk student enrollments. Other Functions * Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure) * A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and more than 3 years' experience, in a broad range of computer technologies. * Expertise in a broad array of computing platforms and systems within a distributed computing environment, including, but not limited to: workstation software/applications. * Must have experience working with TCP/IP networking and an understanding of network firewalls. * Experience with Microsoft Active Directory Group Policies. * Familiarity with HIPAA policies and experience in a clinical setting. * Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with coworkers and with a broad range of clients; ability to work well in a leadership role with peers. * Demonstrated ability to work effectively, in a highly organized manner, paying close attention to detail; accountability and reliability in meeting project deadlines and requirements. * Excellent oral and written communications skills, especially as consultation and accurate communication with non-technical individuals on technical matters are a requirement for this staff member. * Willingness to take on new and challenging tasks as they arise.
