Job Summary

Dalton State College Department of English seeks a full-time 10 month non-tenure track Lecturer of English beginning August 1,2024. The successful candidate must demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and service.

The Lecturer in English is responsible for designing, teaching, and assessing courses in English at the college level. Summer teaching may be available on a competitive basis.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 27 academic hours, (5-4 load, 9 3-hour courses) with some evening, Friday, late afternoon, and online to be expected. Includes preparation and assessment. Teaching load will prioritize the basic course.

  • Research, service, and professional development goals agreed upon with Chair of the Department of English,

  • Attend department, school, and college faculty meetings.

Required Qualifications

Masters degree in English.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in English preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Successful teaching experience in higher education, specifically in teaching the basic English courses, preferably in an access institution or institution with student-focused/teaching mission.

  • Excellent oral and written communication competencies.

  • Experience in Banner and Brightspace/D2L or similar learning management system.

  • Collegiality and ability to work in a team.
