Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Art & Visual Culture, in the College of Design at Iowa State University (ISU), invites applications for the position of Lecturer in the area of Drawing. The appointment for this position is anticipated to begin August 16, 2024, and the initial length of the appointment will be until May 15, 2025, with possibility of renewal in future years.
Qualified candidates will bring an in-depth knowledge in the art and instruction of introductory drawing. The successful candidate will teach multiple sections of the required drawing course to beginning design students as part of the College of Design's interdisciplinary Design Core Program, each semester. Candidates should demonstrate the ability, and flexibility, to teach a range of drawing techniques applicable to various creative disciplines. Individual faculty will prepare a syllabus, course materials, and assessment tools based on learning objectives that are coordinated across multiple sections. Additional responsibilities include holding office hours, participating in student reviews, attendance at Design Studies Core meetings and Art & Visual Culture faculty meetings, and participation in shared governance and departmental service.
