Department/CollegeBackground
The School of Integrative Biological and Chemical Sciences (SIBCS) is the home of the Biology and Chemistry Programs at UTRGV. SIBCS cultivates the educational and career goals of over 1300 undergraduate majors and 100 graduate students in our respective Biology and Chemistry programs.
The school offers undergraduate majors in Biology, Chemistry and Master of Science degrees in Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The school also supports early collegiate high school programs across the Rio Grande Valley. To support these devours SIBCS is home to over 70 faculty and 10 staff members.
Minimum Qualifications
MS in Biology, Chemistry related field with minimum of 18 hours of graduate education in Biology or Chemistry fields is required
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
We are seeking individuals that can teach undergraduate courses and/or Collegiate high school courses that support our Biology and Chemistry programs.
These include but are not limited to the following: Anatomy and Physiology lecture and lab, General Biology lecture and lab (undergraduate and high school), General Chemistry lecture and lab, Chemistry for Engineers lecture and lab, Organic Chemistry lecture and lab, Ecology, Plant Physiology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Wildlife Biology/Ecology, or related fields.
Preferred Qualification
Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. or terminal degree in Biology or a related area, and/or extensive teaching experience in undergraduate biology or chemistry courses, and experience working with underrepresented students. Experience teaching duel-enrollment to high school students. Willingness to travel between our Edinburg, Harlingen, Brownsville and McAllen campuses.
