This position may be located in Mattoon, IL; Mankato, MN; Conroe, TX)
The main responsibility of this position is to be Consolidated Communication's (CCI) Leave Of Absence (LOA) expert. The person will act as a Liaison between MATRIX (LOA administrator), payroll, the employee and supervisor.
Primary contact for MATRIX, employees and supervisors when questions arise. This includes Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Short Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability (LTD), company specific leaves, NY Disability, Baby Bonding Leave (CA only), Minnesota Parental Leave and any other federal or state leave.
Timecard entry for employees out on STD. Work with supervisor and employee on coding of absence time while on any other approved leave. Ensure leave codes are in PeopleSoft. Audit timecard queries to verify intermittent FMLA usage is being reported to LOA administrator.
Ensure plan eligibility, waiting periods, pay while employees are on leave, and terms of the leave are administered correctly and according to the Employee Handbook and/or union contract and federal/state regulations.
Able to work with the payroll schedule to submit leave information to payroll in a timely manner.
Audit employees returning from leave for benefit premiums.
Reconcile and balance disability payments for payroll.
Submit weekly and monthly invoices as needed for various vendors.
Assist the Benefits team with various mailings, open enrollment, order supplies, and miscellaneous benefit assistance as needed.
Experience with an HRIS system and PeopleSoft is a plus. Must have strong analytical skills and attention to detail with proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Must demonstrate ability to perform independently and to work effectively with all levels of the organization. Familiarity with a union environment is helpful.
Must be able to handle an environment where priorities change rapidly. Must be able to independently handle responsibilities simultaneously and be able to prioritize. Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive working relationships with both internal and external venders and customers.
Must be detailed oriented, able to reconcile benefit accounts, and strive to meet deadlines.
Above average written and oral communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all employee data.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in HR, business, finance or equivalent experience/education; excellent analytical computer skills, especially spreadsheets, databases and word processing; strong customer service skills and attention to detail. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a benefit related field is desired.
