Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

At TranSystems, we are dedicated to attracting, developing, and retaining the top professionals.The Leave & Benefits Administrator is responsible for managing leave requests and workplace accommodations, including short-term and long-term disability, Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), Workers' Compensation, paid parental leave, and any additional company leave policies. This role will partner with employees, managers, HR Business Partners, Payroll, and our Third-Party Administrator to ensure proper handling of the processes and procedures. Coordinates with Payroll for sick leave, adoption, and tracking. Assists with the administration of Health and Welfare and 401(k) benefits, including handling escalated employee support, providing compliance support, and organizing wellness events.

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages the leave management process for FMLA, STD, LTD, Military, and Personal leaves of absence, including keeping complete and accurate records in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation best practices and utilizing TranSystems' HCM system to track absences.

  • Collaborates and communicates with employees and managers via written and verbal communication regarding their leave of absence options, eligibility, and status throughout the leave process.

  • Acts as a liaison between the employee, manager, HR Business Partner, and Third-Party Administrator to ensure proper handling of the processes and procedures, including approvals and tracking FMLA time available.

  • Processes timesheets and payroll input as it relates to leaves. Works directly with Payroll to ensure LOA employees are paid accurately each pay period.

  • Drafts and/or recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

  • Reviews workplace accommodation requests from employees, managers, and HR business partners and recommends reasonable accommodation options in compliance with ADA and other applicable laws and company policies.

  • Partners with the safety department to process Workers' Compensation claims and submit injury reports to the WC vendor on a timely basis.

  • Assists with administering health and welfare benefits for employees, including providing support for employees with escalated benefits issues.

  • Supports and assists the department in processing benefit changes in the payroll system before payroll is run.

  • Assists with the annual enrollment process, including testing vendor sites, communications, and annual benefits fair.

  • Processes benefit invoices and funding requests. Completes administrative tasks related to all TranSystems benefit plans.

  • Resolves issues and inquiries from plan participants regarding health and welfare benefits, benefits premiums/payroll deductions, FMLA, leave of absence, etc., through in-personal interactions, phone, or email.

  • Processes Quality Life Event Changes (i.e. baby, divorce, death, etc.).

  • Assist in administering various benefits policies based on the company's needs and in line with legal requirements.

  • Reconciliation of monthly benefit plan billings. This includes reconciling the billings, submitting them to the Accounting A/P Department, following up on discrepancies, and ensuring payments are processed on time.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Three (3) years of experience in benefits or human resources.

  • Knowledge of STD, LTD, and Leaves of Absence.

  • Knowledge of FMLA laws and other required state leave laws.

What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm:

  • Bachelors Degree and/or PHR certification preferred.

  • Knowledge of Workers' Compensation Laws preferable

  • Ceridian Dayforce experience preferred

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Colorado, or NY City, TranSystems is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000 - $95,000 annually.
