Job Summary

The Lease Analyst at Sheridan Production Company, LLC will report to the Lease Records Supervisor and is responsible for the on-going maintenance of leases, joint operating agreements and land-related contracts necessary for the exploration and production efforts of the company. This role is also responsible for the research and analysis of oil & gas leases and surface contracts to verify, establish and calculate ownership interests on land payment obligations and land invoices, to evaluate and cure title requirements in new ownership updates and to establish, maintain and update Company land rentals liability records.

Qualifications, Skills and Duties

  • Maintain, review and follow identified procedures for lease maintenance and land payment obligations.

  • Identify and confirm compliance with contract obligations related to rentals, shut-in payment, minimum royalties, etc.

  • Must possess a working knowledge of oil and gas land agreements, land contracts and legal instruments associated with the transfer of ownership interests.

  • Excellent written, organizational, communication, planning and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail is imperative and will be a key component.

  • Able to perform detailed work with speed and accuracy.

  • Able to organize and prioritize a diverse and heavy workload consisting of many detailed, separate procedures and deadlines.

  • Team oriented.

  • Create strong work relationships with internal staff.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally in person and using a telephone and in writing.

  • Recognize personal strengths and weaknesses and be proactive in self-development.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word; experience in Oracle helpful, but not necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2-4 years of in-house experience with an Independent Oil & Gas Company
  • BS/BA preferred but not required.

Our greatest asset has been and will continue to be our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Senior Marketing Accountant based in Houston, TX. Reporting to the Marketing Accounting Supervisor, the Senior Marketing Accountant is responsible for tracking and recording crude oil volumes received from equity or 3rd party customers, transported to market, placed in storage, and delivered to purchasers. The following are job duties expected of the Senior Marketing Accountant: * Regularly works with a team of 8 accountants to perform monthly volumetric allocations for multiple commodities (Nat Gas and Crude) by analyzing pipeline statements and other transporter reports. * Reconcile transportation invoices to trading system, resolving discrepancies timely to process payment. * Work with operations (Houston and Midland) to ensure completeness and accuracy of crude oil lease and trucking transactions recorded in the trading system. * Reconcile actualized volumes per our trading system with our revenue accounting group for equity and 3rd party lease purchases (12,000 tickets) and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. * Collaborate with project team, product control, revenue accounting and operations to improve processes and provide reliable analysis. * Work with project team and operations to improve the accuracy of forecasted lease and truck volumes. * Provide support and assistance to the settlements team, lease operations, and revenue accounting to research and resolve prior period volumetric discrepancies. * Analyze transportation costs and explain variances between current month, prior month, and forecasts. * Reconciliation of general ledger accounts for inventory and related costs. * Review and record monthly journal entries to the general ledger for commodity purchases, sales, transportation and fees for accruals and actualized activity. * Assist in testing and analysis for new trade system implementation (Allegro 8.0). * Gather supporting documents and provide explanations for audit request for consolidated and stand-alone financial statements (as applicable). * Document and update desk procedures for assigned tasks. * Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance * Energy Marketing industry experience (8 years, minimum of 3 years in Crude Oil) * Relevant experience with crude oil volumetric actualizations of lease and trucking activity (5 years) * Experience working in a trading system, Allegro experience a plus. * Strong ability in managing and processing large quantities of data * Ability to communicate in a professional manner and establish effective working relationships with internal operations and external customers * Team-oriented spirit who displays a willingness to help others * Capacity to maintain an optimistic and positive attitude * Motivated, self-directed and results-driven approach to work, also takes ownership of assigned tasks * Ability to research and prepare analysis to respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely, professional and thorough manner * Creative thinker who can identify processes for continuous process improvement opportunities * Ability to anticipate issues and how they impact the team or other stakeholders, and act on them in advance * Ability to learn quickly and adapt and manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing dynamic environment * Employ fundamental accounting skills: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and account reconciliations * Working proficiency and knowledge in Excel, i.e. mining/manipulating data.
