Position Summary

This 0.5 FTE position leads policy development and management for the statewide learning programs to empower forestry staff and ensure their maximum effectiveness and contribution to meeting organizational goals. This position is one of two statewide technical experts for the Division in learning and professional development, leading the Division through leadership, innovation, adaptation, best practices, and transfer of knowledge.

The Forestry Learning Specialist is a key internal and external consultant for staff, leadership, inter-divisional teams, and partner groups. This position maintains cutting-edge knowledge and expertise by staying abreast of current research and maintaining an effective professional network. The customer base for this position is 450-500 Division staff, including three bureaus and three districts, as well as colleagues throughout the Department and key partner groups such as other educational organizations and institutions, including corresponding programs in other state and federal agencies.

Salary Information

The classification title for this position is Staff Development Program Specialist Senior. The starting salary is between $35.00 and $39.00 per hour ($36,400 and $40,560 annually), depending on qualifications. The pay schedule/range is 81-03.

Pay on appointment will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.

A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Job Details

Travel: This position has statewide responsibilities, so travel within the state and occasional national travel is required.

Qualifications

Please describe the below qualifications in your resume and letter of qualifications to be considered for this position:

Required qualifications include experience in ALL the following criteria:

  • Experience developing or implementing organizational training or learning programs.

  • Experience coordinating and/or scheduling large scale (5-10 or more training events/year) training offerings.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience facilitating leadership, executive or supervisory team discussions and decision making related to organizational training or learning programs or protocols.

  • Experience related to Cornerstone Learning System software or comparable learning management system.

  • Experience establishing an evaluation system to measure the effectiveness of an organizational learning program.

  • Experience developing individualized learning plans for adults.

  • Experience related to sustainable forestry operations, administration or policy.

  • Bachelor's degree or training related to adult learning, organizational development or similar field.
