Job Description:
Title: Learning Management System Administrator
Unit: Non-Unit Professional (NUP)
Department: Liberal Arts Division, Department of Online Learning
Reports to: Dean of Liberal Arts

General Summary:
This full-time position will provide the technical expertise necessary to support the suite of MCC's academic technology applications, including the college Learning Management System (LMS); Web 2.0 and synchronous communications tools; mobile and wireless applications; learning content management systems; assessment technologies; and other resources critical to teaching and learning, both online and in the classroom. This position is responsible for the functional and administrative configuration and support of the LMS and other academic technology software applications. Core responsibilities and activities require working closely with the Academic Technology & Distance Learning Team and Information Technology.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide coordination and support of MCC's academic technology applications, emphasizing the college's Learning Management System and the integration of other supported resources and technologies into effective instructional systems.
Perform all of the tasks associated with administering the LMS, such as:
Manage LMS cloud infrastructure and integrations and co-lead the LMS review process
Test applications on the testing/staging environment during upgrade/migration before the production launch.
Oversee the backup of all course content, establish & manage archive process, clean up old integrations/materials, and ensure data security with compliance of MCC data security policies and disaster recovery plan
Create new course shells and manage enrollments as needed for faculty, departments, and special groups
Manage groups and course roles as needed for editors, faculty, and students in the LMS
Set and modify the environmental variables to match institutional policies, procedures, and goals and to address user needs
Manage GUI-related updating/configuring of building blocks/LTIs, institutional hierarchy, and system functional testing
Provide Tier II user support for the LMS in person and remotely
Troubleshoot, research, communicate, and resolve technical issues in a timely matter
Create, manage, and update documentation and KBs regularly
Create and manage video tutorials for faculty and students.
Stay current on new developments, issues, and updates to LMS and other supported applications; communicate appropriate information to IT/Academic Technology and User Community.
Collect and compile data on LMS usage, digital technology usage, and student/faculty support issues; analyze trends and contribute to enterprise reporting efforts; work directly with Academic Technology in the preparation of data for reports and proposals for the implementation, improvement, and growth of the online learning program
Research, pilot, and support the implementation of new technologies for teaching and learning such as Web 2.0 tools, and provide informed recommendations to Academic Technology for improvements related to the use of technology to support teaching and learning
Work with Academic Technology to ensure accessibility of instructional technologies & practices utilized in online and classroom teaching environments
Participate in cross-functional teams to implement and support the technical aspects of multimedia & technology-enhanced projects initiated by faculty/staff
Pursue continuous professional growth and development in the application of academic technology and the LMS
Actively participate in and contribute to governance, Academic Affairs, and college-wide initiatives
Ability to work effectively with all levels of faculty, staff, clients, and product/service provider representatives.
Ability to work flexible hours, including some nights or weekends
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an LMS Systems Administrator.
Excellent teamwork, verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms.
Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment; must be well organized, dedicated, thorough, and punctual, with meticulous attention to detail and follow-through with a focus on service.
Experience with equity-minded work and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, veterans, and individuals with different academic preparation levels and varying physical and learning abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study OR Bachelor's degree with significant work experience as a system administrator, programmer, software Developer, system analyst, etc.
Knowledge of Tableau, Snowflake, Ellucian Banner, SAIP, API, Rest API, and AWS infrastructure.
Knowledge of SQL, JavaScript, Python, HTML.
Knowledge of SaaS, networking, and cloud-based infrastructure such as AWS.
Additional Information:

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, schedule to be determined upon hire. This position will be eligible for a maximum of two days of telework in accordance with the College's telework policy.
