Job Purpose/Description
The Learning Assistant / Homework Help / Supplemental Instruction Leader will serve as a role model student and conduct sessions for their designated class. The leader attends the targeted class, creates activities to provide students practice and review of course content, and facilities sessions that promote positive course discussion and push students to higher levels on Bloom's Taxonomy.
Subjects needed: Physics, Anatomy & Physiology I & 2, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Nursing, Social Work, Accounting 2210 & 2220
Job Duties
Facilitate sessions (1-2 times/week) to guide students through course content for assigned course.
Support faculty's messaging and content to help students use the language of the discipline, discuss concepts in a supportive environment, and organize their understanding of the targeted class.
Create review materials to reinforce course content.
Provide general academic success strategies and serve as a role model student.
Advertise and promote sessions.
Attend all trainings and team meetings.
Meet with faculty and program coordinator on regular basis for debriefing purposes.
Attend lectures for assigned course as determined by faculty.
Complete necessary paperwork (attendance sheets, timesheet, sign in sheets, evaluations).
Maintain confidentiality.
Other duties as may be assigned and/or necessary.
Required Qualifications
Must be a current CSS student
Must be full-time CSS student in Fall 2024 with mastery of specific courses.
Min. 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Professional poise to represent the College.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong service orientation and the ability to interact with a wide variety of people in a friendly, professional manner.
Strong organizational and time management skill.
Job functions require sitting, standing, and walking during shift.
Ability to perform all of the above functions during an assigned workday without significant risk of injury.
Preferred Qualifications
Federal work study eligibility is preferred
Junior or senior status.
Students with leadership experience.
