The Lean Transformation Intern will carry out and coordinate the efforts related to A3s chartered for transforming our branch into a lean enterprise. He/She will participate in all West Chicago lean, kaizen and 6S projects. The scheduled working hours for this position will be Monday Friday, 8am 5pm.
30% of the time you will: Perform the supporting activities such as data gathering, time studies, and coordination for Lean Transformation Initiative.
30% of the time you will: Participate in lean efforts like rapid improvement events, JDIs, and other A3 chartered activities to help implement and propel Lean Transformation.
30% of the time you will: Help establish, improve and error proof our MRP functions (SAP) such as BOMs, production versions, reports, and rates.
10% of the time you will: Handle other tasks as requested.
Currently enrolled in junior or senior year Bachelor's degree program in Industrial Engineering required.
Currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in Industrial Engineering preferred.
1 year of previous experience in problem-solving approaches like A3, 8D, etc. required.
Lean/Six Sigma: Experienced and knowledgeable in Lean/Six Sigma principles. Ability to utilize lean tools with reasonable guidance.
Problem Solving: Experienced in using problem solving methods such as A3, 8D, PDCA, or DMIAC.
Material Requirements Planning: Familiar with MRP/ERP systems (preferably SAP).
Time and Motion Study: Familiar with different methods of time and motion study.
Standard Work: Familiar with establishing standard works and SOPs.
Communication: Ability to write in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience. Ability to effectively present information to groups of managers, team members and customers.
Ability to work with computer software to communicate team results and training concepts such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
This job does not require travel.
