What you will be doing

We are looking for a Lean Transformation Analyst who will play an integral role in ensuring the continuous success of bringing 'Lean Transformation' as a way of working to the organization. They will be responsible for supporting all day-to-day activities of Lean Transformation Team (LTT) including identifying opportunities for Lean initiatives by conducting Field work, supporting initiative owners, and facilitating routine interaction with senior leaders at the Corporate and Field level

Albertsons Companies' Retail Operations team is on a journey to transform using Lean methodologies with primary focus on:

  • Putting people first by driving better team member experience

  • Being customer driven with focus on higher guest satisfaction

  • Raising the bar with better efficiency and performance

This is an amazing opportunity for someone to come in at the initial stages of our Lean journey and shape it from end to end. This role will give you visibility at all levels within the organization and make a significant, transformational impact on our operations strategy, culture and day-to-day processes.

The position will be based in Boise, Idaho, or one of our main regional offices (Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, Pleasanton CA, Denver CO, Dallas TX, Chicago, IL, or Fullerton, CA, Phoenix, AZ). There will be business travel required up to 30%.

Main responsibilities

  • Support weekly LTT cadence and project management

  • Before the meeting: Compile latest progress of each workstream/initiative including impact estimates/realized and major milestones; brief Director and Manager of LTT on issues/update (as needed).

  • During the meeting: Prepare meeting logistics and run presentation, track and take follow-up actions, serve as thought partner in probing initiative rationale (e.g., questions to push problem solving, critical thinking).

  • After the meeting: Send out action trackers to workstream/initiative owners, follow up with and provide guidance on small issues; maintain stakeholder engagement and meet timelines of project lifecycle

  • Drive Lean initiative identification, delivery, and performance management

  • Collaborate with Retail Operations team, Field team, and Front-line teams in stores to drive continuous improvement (often based on principles of 'Lean') in store operations; this includes identification, design, testing, stakeholder engagement, implementation, and measurement of initiatives.

  • Spend time in stores to conduct department observations and identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement and build testing and implementation plans accordingly; this includes deploying the Lean diagnostic toolkit to identify opportunities in store and engaging directly with Front-line teams to gather input and feedback.

  • For initiatives identified, build-out of business cases, impact estimates, implementation planning and preparation (including training material creation for rollout and defining operational metrics of success for each initiative).

  • Collaborate with Customer insights team to build point of view on what is best for customer and consequently what Lean initiatives may/may not make sense to implement.

  • Problem solves ad-hoc issues

  • Provide ad-hoc problem solving and work with Retail Operations, Field leadership, and Front-line teams drive issues to resolution. Conduct rapid, targeted analyses to push initiatives forward. Develop high-quality communications drafts for workshops, Field leadership, and C-suite (including workshop materials).

The salary range is $62,000 to $82,000. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay/Flexible Time Off, paid holidays (8-9 days annually) bereavement pay and retirement benefits (such as 401(k) eligibility).

What we are searching for

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of experience developing Lean methodology programs (in a retail environment is preferred)

  • 2+ years of experience in retail operations performance management/operations management team. Prior experience working in stores is a positive.

  • Passion for/attention to detail

  • Ability and passion to spend time in stores learning about the operations, people, and culture to identify and solve for opportunities

  • Ability to think critically, innovate, and probe solutions

  • Curiosity for more value (how do I get more, faster)

  • Pragmatic problem-solver (able to use the '80/20' approach)

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with many cross-functional stakeholders at Corporate and Field level, including spending time with teams in grocery stores

  • Ability to communicate well with roles at all levels

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint); SQL experience a requirement
