A DAY IN THE LIFE:

Lean Manufacturing Engineers provide technical lean manufacturing expertise in Operations under the guidance of Operations Excellence Management. In this role, you will drive automation activities across production to reduce cycle time and waste to improve process quality and create capacity. You will also design and develop the program to meet the current and future business needs by directly leading a culture of continuous improvement across the organization. This role also leverages Lean framework and guidelines to provide technical leadership, working closely with cross-functional teams to implement actions to streamline, simplify, and improve processes. This position will be a mix of activities for both sustaining and new development efforts to ensure robust and innovative solutions are delivered to the organization.

  • Support the development of Lean manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, standard work, line balancing, problem-solving, value stream mapping, training, and employee involvement.

  • Drive Lean manufacturing activities that result in measurable process improvement and flow.

  • Optimize manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, efficiency, and process repeatability.

  • Optimize workflow and cell designs for manufacturing throughput.

  • Work with groups across the company on waste reduction improvement projects

  • Lead value stream mapping exercises to determine and record business improvement areas.

  • Provides technical leadership and solutions regarding all aspects of process robustness, cycle times, uptime, efficiency, PMs, spares, documentation, etc.

  • Defines continual process improvement activities through Kaizen events, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma designed to optimize process efficiency and reduce costs and lead times.

  • Working with the Quality and R&D groups, participating in root cause failure investigations, and developing and implementing corrective and preventive action, as required.

  • Tools include PFMECA, FMECA, DOE, and Fault Tree analysis.

  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships throughout Tandem.

  • Ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.

  • Skilled at effectively communicating department or area issues and results within and across functional areas and conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or timelines.

  • Skilled at effectively leading a cooperative team effort and organizing resources to achieve team goals. Able to make and prioritize process and resource decisions based on overall team needs.

  • Identify, design, and implement manufacturing cost reductions of at least $500,000 yearly.

YOU'RE AWESOME AT:

  • Demonstrated record of accomplishments in continuous improvement initiatives/projects, team leadership, and problem-solving;

  • Demonstrated ability to lead the development and implementation of OpEx tools such as: 7 Wastes / Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Visual Controls, Root Cause Analysis, Kanban, Kaizen events, Mistake-proofing, Standard Work / Leader Standard Work.

  • Demonstrated success in initiating change and influencing at all levels

  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and with MS Teams.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload.

  • Skilled at clearly conveying in-depth knowledge to all levels within, and outside of, the organization.

  • Skilled at creating a cooperative team environment.

  • Able to react to changing situations in a timely, calm, and confident manner.

  • Able to objectively evaluate situations and make recommendations for changes in light of overall project demands.

EXTRA AWESOME:

  • Project management experience is highly preferred.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft AX preferred.

YOU'LL NEED:

  • B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.

  • 3 years' experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment

  • 1 year experience leading/owning cross-functional projects.

  • Six Sigma Black Belt certificate highly desired

  • Experience in an FDA/GMP/ISO environment.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $96,000.00 to $120,000.00 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate's location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.

Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts.
