As the Lead/Senior RF Engineer at PAX, you are responsible for designing RF solutions that are innovative, cost-efficient, reliable, and ship on schedule. RF Engineers at PAX work with product development teams to support high-value engineering activities. You'll interact with all engineering design disciplines and reliability, manufacturing, component engineering, and other resources inside and outside PAX. This important, highly technical position reports to the Director of Electrical Engineering in the Hardware Engineering organization at PAX Labs.

As the PAX Lead/Senior RF Engineer, you will:

  • Assist in EE schematic review and component selection as it relates to RF systems

  • Review PCB layouts to ensure/define RF design practices are implemented for signal integrity, EMI/EMC and desense mitigation

  • Work with FW and ME teams to optimize RF performance

  • Work with Compliance team on RF certification testing

  • Design and/or drive the design of antennas

  • Debug and resolve coexistence and de-sense issue

  • Define RF test methodology and fixtures for product validation and high-volume manufacturing

  • Work with component vendors to define RF silicon requirements and troubleshoot RF issues

  • Focus on cost-optimized RF solutions

  • Working with ME team on complex antenna integration into small form-factors

  • Copper-tape prototyping


  • 10+ years of industry experience in wireless products, shipped multiple products

  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment; oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, RF protocol/signal testers --- be able spec out an RF lab

  • Experience with RF design from kHz to GHz bands

  • Ownership of the entire RF chain, from early concepting to mass production, from board level to signaling protocol

  • Experience with driving/managing RF simulation tools and 3D solvers (ex: HFSS)

  • Capability to design and prototype antennas or drive antenna design through 3rd parties

  • Knowledge of layout best practices as they relate to RF signal chain and signal-integrity in general

  • Excellent documentation skills, especially around system requirements, test definition and statements of work

  • Ability to be a vocal leader and drive cross-functional alignment as it relates to RF design

  • Nice-to-have: Non-RF EE design experience, schematic/board layout design, scripting (Python, LabView) for test/equipment automation and data analysis, protocol-level expertise
