POSITION TITLE: Leadership Gifts Assistant

LOCATION/DEPT: DHQ/Development and Communications Department

REPORTS to (TITLE): Assistant Director of Development for Leadership Gifts

FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt

STATUS TYPE: Regular Full-Time

OUTCOMES

Administrative support will be provided for the Leadership Gifts Department in order to ensure that the functions of this position are achieved and effective donor relations are maintained. This includes assistance with written and oral communications, with planning and implementation of department objectives as well as maintaining a data management system (paper files and electronic data files and donor data base records. Will also support and interact as directed with other Development/Communications groups, Metropolitan Division departments/sites, donors and volunteers.

This position requires confidentiality, accuracy, computer skills, the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment, and a heart to help those in need.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists with donor contact through correspondence, telephone or in-person communication.Assist in updating the database and maintaining the paper filing.Assist the Leadership Gifs staff with donor contact database entries.Ensures that Thank You/Acknowledgement letters are sent out in a timely manner to donors who have contributed.Assists, as requested, with personalized thank you cards.Assist in compiling and proof reading all mailings, newsletters and other materials that are generated by the department.Coordinates sending of newsletters, proposals, event invitations and other communications to all leadership gift donors and prospects.Assists the leadership gifts staff in compiling and submitting progress reports as requested.Conduct donor and prospect research and create research briefs for the Leadership Gifts staff.Coordinate meetings, maintain records and take minutes as required.Assist with events including, but not limited to:InvitationsRSVPsRegistrationNametagsData entry and follow-upConfirm and assist in scheduling appointments with donors and prospects.Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with Leadership Gifts staff when they are in the field.Responsible for an ongoing evaluation of assigned administrative processes to improve the overall efficiency of department operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and cooperative work efforts to provide quality donor relations.Assistance in ensuring coordinated efforts with other Development areas.Assist with other Leadership Gifts department duties as assigned and needed.Perform office administrative duties (data entry, filing, handling mail, and handling incoming/outgoing phone calls).Other duties as assigned.Qualifications

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two years of college education or its equivalent, a BA or BS is preferred.

  • 2 years of experience in an administrative assistant or secretarial position.

  • Experience with a computer based work environment and an excellent working knowledge of Word.

COMPETENCIES

  • Willing to promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

  • Must be strongly proficient in MS word, Excel, and Internet usage.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, using diplomacy and good judgment.

  • A professional telephone manner is essential.

  • Knowledge of or a willingness and aptitude to learn the concepts involved with Leadership giving.

  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.

  • Ability to engage others with a professional and sincere approach.

  • A personal style that exhibits the principles and values of the Army.

  • A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.

  • A willingness to support the mission of The Salvation Army.

  • An understanding of how to effectively work with diversity in the workplace.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with MGM Resorts International Marketing polices practices and procedures. * Determine and evaluate customers' casino activity to provide corresponding incentives and use authorization to approve comps and allowances (room, food, beverage, events tickets, free play, airfare, or discounts). * Make critical business decisions regarding customer's allowances and comps while managing customers to a profitable level. * Drive incremental business, with a focus on new and inactive customers within designated region while maintaining customer base to support increasing the property's customer development efforts. * Maintain highly confidential casino customer information by enforcing the privacy of all guests and limits requests for information about such guests in accordance with company policies. * Work in conjunction with Casino Marketing, Marketing Executives and on-property personnel to assist and facilitate qualified in-house casino customers. * Ensures Marketing Events are communicated to customers through a variety of communication channels. * Liaisons between customers and operating departments to ensure guest requests are fulfilled. * Attend special event functions when appropriate to promote marketing efforts and greet customers. * May attend quarterly Receivable Meetings to provide updates to the Corporate Finance group. * Resolve customer disputes and complaints to the satisfaction of the customer and the company. * Comply with local laws, Title 31 and attend all mandatory compliance and training sessions. * Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
