Department Summary

The University of North Texas seeks a motivated, collaborative professional to join our Advancement team as a Leadership Annual Giving Officer. The Leadership Annual Giving Officer will collaborate with members of the Athletics and Advancement team to engage and solicit leadership annual gifts from Athletics perspective supporters, alumni and friends of UNT. This position requires some weekend hours and some travel.

While reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development, the Leadership Annual Giving Officer will work closely with colleagues from Athletics and Advancement.

The Leadership Annual Giving Officer will focus on providing a first-class philanthropic experience for all donors by leveraging personalized digital, phone, video, print engagement to effectively build relationships through a tailored experience.

Position Overview

This position will manage a portfolio of approximately 1,000 donors with daily, weekly, monthly, and annual goals. The candidate will collaborate with other colleagues both internally at the university and externally, to effectively execute 1:1 outreach strategy using technology resources including the vendor, EverTrue's cloud platform, social media, and virtual communications software.

This role is critical to helping the UNT achieve both current, future fundraising goals and long-term fundraising objectives. Candidates should be self-motivated professionals, with a team-first optimistic attitude, eager to embody the UNT spirit to engage Athletics prospective supporters, alumni and friends at a high velocity in a personalized approach. The Leadership Annual Giving Officer will work under the supervision of the Associate Vice President for Development.

This position will have at least twice a month reviews for progress toward goals and determination of needs for success, it will serve as an annual appointment.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and two years of professional experience in marketing, fundraising, event planning, public relations, corporate account sales, or communications; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of fundraising or ability to quickly assimilate.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cordial, productive, and professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage time, personnel, financial, and physical resources effectively.

  • Exceptional communications skills.

  • Ability to master University policies and procedures and apply these in specific situations.

  • Strong collaboration and organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize effectively.

  • Ability to manage confidential material responsibly and interact professionally with a wide spectrum of individuals.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Possession of a valid Texas driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment; ability to drive a vehicle and maintain coverage under University liability insurance policy, if required to drive University vehicles.

Job Duties:

Donor Cultivation and Solicitation Activities

  • Actively engage with and build relationships with a portfolio of approximately 1,000 supporters and prospects, focus on Athletics.

  • Leverage technology including EverTrue's cloud platform, social media platforms, and video conferencing software tools to build rapport, steward, and solicit donors in a donor-centric, targeted, high-velocity manner.

  • Execute monthly and quarterly touchpoint cadences across the portfolio to ensure consistent and relevant donor communication. Meet and exceed clearly defined goals, KPIs, and metrics with an emphasis on virtual meetings with prospective donors and the number of personalized solicitations delivered.

  • Refer donors or prospects to major gift officers, as appropriate.

Donor Engagement and Stewardship Activities

  • Be fluent in the "menu" of engagement and philanthropic opportunities across the University (external events, on-campus events, volunteer opportunities, fundraising priorities) to inform conversations and solicitations.

  • Embrace a "mile-wide and inch-deep" approach to serving as a proactive advisor on resources available to donors across the institution.

  • Build relationships across the University campus to be able to connect donors with relevant individuals when applicable.

  • Aid in outreach and follow-up for events and activities on behalf of Alumni Relations and Development.

  • Proactively monitor engagement to identify and launch initiatives that drive donations.

  • Attend donor events, games as appropriate.

Administration and Data Integrity

  • Be familiar with CASE best practices related to higher education fundraising.

  • Utilize The Raiser's Edge system strategically to track activities.

  • Manage ad hoc fundraising projects as assigned.

Monday

  • Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM some evenings and weekends required; hybrid opportunity available.
