Job Description:

From beginning to end, understand the billing process for assigned companies to ensure accurate and timely delivery of the invoice to the customer. There are currently gaps and several manual billing processes with heavy reliance on sales, operations and IT to assist in the billing process so the invoice to the customer is correct.

This position will require very strong analytical, reporting and communication skills. It will be research, excel, AR and Oracle heavy. Everywhere we find a gap, we have to dig in and ask questions and properly log our findings in order to bill the client accurately.

This is not a come in and learn a skill and do that skill every day kind of role. We will be reaching out to individuals at all levels across the enterprise to ask questions, pull at threads and take actions based on where the data leads us. There will be process improvements necessary to streamline the process which involve working with IT.

Responsible for managing the billing process, workflows and resources to compile monthly billing information and process invoices for the organization to ensure invoice processing is complete, accurate and properly reflects documented contract terms. Manage a team of billing specialists. Manage and assign workflow; monitor volumes; adjust work assignments and provide resource recommendations accordingly.Manage hiring/ selection activities, performance management and employee development.

Provide coaching, training and mentorship to team members on an ongoing basis. Manage employee engagement. Provide direction to matrix, outsourced and cross-functional resources as assigned.Partner closely with multiple business units to include Accounting, Collections, Customer Service and Contracting to resolve billing issues and concerns by identifying root-cause issue and solutions for remediation.Review and audit billings and adjustments.

Perform quality assurance and compliance reviews of receivable/ billing-related activities.Resolve escalated or complex billing issues. Oversee research and resolution of assigned requests, as well as, effective communication of resolution to key stakeholders. Identify processing exceptions that inhibit billing efficiencies and recommend solutions to department workflow and practices.

Evaluate, streamline and document processes and procedures. Implement best practices for billing solutions.Utilize available internal and external software and hardware tools to maximize productivity while maintaining transactional integrity. Manage related reporting requirements both cyclical and ad-hoc activity.Set up future billings in accordance with contract terms; ensure billings comply with contract agreement

Perform various customer account analyses.Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related ad-hoc assignments and special projects as needed.Assist with system conversions and new client implementation

Prepare information for future backlog billing reporting requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 2-5 years of formal accounting experience preferred; prior experience managing billing functions preferred.
  • 1-3 yrs experience managing people/ leading teams to include experience performing hiring/ selection activities, performance management and employee development.
