Lead Welder Repair Technician in Anaheim, CA

Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on welding systems and products distributed by the Company. The position will perform work at the branch facility and at customer sites as required. Candidate will be responsible to oversee all aspects of the weld repair department and technicians.
Essential Job Functions:
Travels to customer sites to troubleshoot and make necessary repairs and/or perform routine maintenance and NIST traceable calibration on all types of Airgas equipment and products including, but not limited to:
Manual, robotic and semi-automatic GMAW, GTAW, SMAW and PAW welding equipment including many custom semi-automatic systems.
Orbital tube and pipe welding systems.
High purity bulk and cylinder gas systems.
Integrated welding and motion control systems.
Work with inside sales team with counter coverage when needed.
Ability to represent the Company to our customers in a professional and courteous manner. Completes all service orders in a neat and timely fashion and obtains customer's signature on the order prior to leaving facility.
Maintains company provided diagnostic equipment, tools and other equipment in clean, good working condition and within manufacturer's recommendations. Calibrations on equipment are kept in date. Properly locks and secures the equipment at the end of each day.
Communicates with Service Manager on the job status, daily activities and unsafe conditions of equipment and at the job site three times a day via voice mail or phone call. Prior to leaving a job area, call the Service Manager for updates, emergencies, etc.
Communicates by phone and in person with vendors, customers, sales staff, store managers and others, providing information on repair times, ordering of parts and supplies, etc. Maintain inventory of parts in the Airgas facility.
Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM's) on Airgas customer equipment per Company procedures. Maintain database of and schedule all calibration and PM's on Airgas and Airgas' customer equipment. Maintains confidentiality with customers.
Follows Airgas safety procedures and attends monthly safety meetings. Must be able to wear protective equipment as needed. Must be able to use trade type tools or hand tools. Must maintain a clean MVR.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned. Ability to work with little or no supervision, given proper instructions.
Works safely and meets the requirements of all safety procedures and rules as prescribed by State, Federal, and the Company. Keeps Service Department clean and tools are put up when not in use.
When there is little or no repair work, you will try to gain new repair business. Ride with account managers, call on distributors to gain their repair work. Call the surrounding Airgas West Region store locations to follow up on any available work. Call the Service Manager.
Education, Experiences, Certificates/Licenses and/or Registrations:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
A minimum of 2 years electrical and/or electronic experience/or training or equivalent.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from associates, groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
Valid state driver's license.
Vendor/Manufacturer School Certificates of Training.
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to read and comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Ability to read electrical schematics.
Ability to plan a logical approach to troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
Ability to work in DOS and windows based computer systems.
