DEFINITION:

The purpose of this job/class within the organization is to supervise, operate, monitor and maintain the wastewater treatment facility to ensure safe and efficient operation within federal, state and local guidelines.

This job/class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all-inclusive):

Analyzes process control results and adjusts operations to maximize efficiency; ensures plant remains within the set limitations set forth by D.E.P. permit.

Schedules, trains, and oversees the duties of Wastewater Plant Operators; participates in hiring, evaluation, and disciplinary activities.

Briefs shift operators on daily operation status, assigns tasks, follows up to ensure proper performance and task completion.

Completes monthly Discharge Monitoring Report for Florida Department of Environmental Protection as required by law.

Provides training and assistance to operators; ensures operational knowledge is up to date.

Inspects and monitors plant mechanical and electrical equipment; adjusts and recalibrates equipment and instrumentation as necessary; ensures the accuracy of equipment monitoring our discharge limits and is required by law.

Reports any abnormal events to the proper authorities and Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college in wastewater system operations or closely related field.

Requires two years' experience in wastewater operations or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

Requires a State of Florida Department of Environmental Wastewater Operator License Level "B".
