Non-Exempt. Oversees the waste receipt, storage and transportation preparation activities in the RCRA waste storage buildings and yard. Ensures that all operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policy and all applicable local, state and federal regulations. Responsible for the transporting, handling, storage and inspecting of all containers throughout the DSSI site.

  • Effectively and efficiently run the warehouses, this includes receiving all waste shipments and assisting with non-waste (normal incoming supplies, etc.) deliveries as well.

  • Enforces job safety practices including use of personal protective equipment, good housekeeping techniques, lockout/tag-out procedures, etc. to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

  • Maintains and tracks waste inventory levels and coordinates storage requirements associated with production processing.

  • Develop short-term goals for waste storage and transportation usage for the facilities.

  • Operation of lifting equipment, i.e., forklift, gantries, etc.

  • General housekeeping and decontamination of equipment and work areas.

  • All handling of containers according to the SOP, to include shipping of containers to and from the DSSI site.

  • Coordinate with QA and Accounting Departments to ensure proper procedures for receiving all waste and non-waste shipments to DSSI.

  • Perform daily RCRA inspections of warehouses.

  • Label and provide input data for proper storage and waste tracking of all containers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with operational groups.

  • Knowledge of operational processing with an emphasis in hazardous waste treatment, handling and storage.

  • The ability to foster a team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to read and follow operating procedures, company policies, health and safety procedures and Radiation Protection protocols.

  • Proficiency in the following MS applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Good attendance record.

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of two years experience in waste treatment operations.

  • Working knowledge of all applicable DOT, local, state and federal regulations associated with mixed waste and storage desirable.

  • Chemical/Nuclear plant experience desirable.

  • Working knowledge of chemical hazards and exposures.

Continuous field/facility work required where there is potential for exposure to mixed hazardous materials, radiation, noise, dust, hot and cold temperatures and chemicals. Climbing, walking and lifting will be normal daily requirements.
