The Lead Validation Engineer - HMI/Speech/Kombi is coordinating the integration, validation and testing for embedded vehicle functions and manages the test schedules with our internal customer and internal staff, and tracks results. This open position is part of a team that focuses on the series development support of electronic/electronic systems with particular relevance to the US and Canadian markets. People most suited for this position are able to derive technical systems from market-driven ideas, assertively work with suppliers building trust and finding common ground solutions, and work well in a multi-disciplined environment.

Role Responsibilities

Lead Validation Engineer HMI/Speech/Kombi leads and coordinates integration, validation and product improvement activities for embedded vehicle products

  • Proactively provide regular status updates

  • Coordinate and lead local testing planning and activities with Function Owners and Project Leaders

  • Setup of master test plan and test management plan:

  • Synchronization of test content with project leaders, functional owners and quality departments

  • Planning of test-drives and test assignments

  • Test execution and ticket management

  • Vehicle/test environment planning and synchronization with system integration and test management departments in Germany and NAR

  • Updating of vehicle/test environments

  • Assignment of work instructions to Vehicle, Methods & Tooling team

  • Parts coordination and sourcing

  • Reporting to Function Owners status of:

o Test coverage, Test Statistics and Quality of Testing

o Test Reporting and Synchronization with PL and Project Stakeholders, including weekly test reports

Qualifications

Years of Experience

  • 5-7 years as an Electronics systems engineer for an Automotive OEM or Tier-1 supplier proven record of start-to-finish lead role.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science (Electrical, Telecommunications, Automotive, Computer Science, Information Technologies). MS preferred.

  • Experience with Product/Project management preferred

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge and proven record of having worked with Human-Machine Interfaces and Interaction, User Experience and/or Intelligent Speech Systems (offline / online).

  • Proven record of a test lead within the automotive industry, has held a test coordination role throughout entire projects (conception, planning, execution, close-out).

  • Give clear and unbiased assessment of project status and needs to partners, stakeholders and management.

  • Deep knowledge of project validation lifecycles.

  • Knowledge of product development processes and project management activities, deliverables, and milestones.

  • Analytical and conceptual thinking using logic and reason.

  • Proven problem solving skills knowledge and experience on the job.

  • Able to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, time-line and target oriented work environment.

  • Good people and test resource management functional and strategic.

  • Excellent communication skills presentation, written and interpersonal.

  • Able to continuously question and challenge the status-quo, always documenting and applying the lessons learned.

  • Team player with good collaboration and integration skills joining people, processes and systems.

  • California State driving license.

  • Excellent English language skills mandatory.

  • Exceptional communication with internal / external partners, stakeholders, and project affiliates and management.

  • Resource planning and people management skills.

  • Experience in integration and testing of Vehicle Systems.

  • Proven track record of product improvement recommendations making it into Product.

  • Ability to successfully develop and test multiple functions for embedded vehicle products.

  • Analytical skills. Proven record of active engagement in process improvements.

  • Ability to interpret technical specifications.

  • Motivated team player with positive attitude and strong work ethic.

  • Understanding of user requirements in an automotive environment with previous engagement in market oriented product development (e.g. requirement specification).

  • Automotive Communication protocols knowledge: CAN, MOST, Ethernet, FlexRay.

Desired Skills

  • German / French / Spanish language skills.

  • Devotion for high quality, ability to find and expose quality insufficiencies in automotive electronics systems.

  • Knowledge of automotive infotainment/connected car products and services.

  • Passion for cars and car electronics.

  • Prior experience of working with OEM design.

  • Computer savy with previous programming experience.

Work Flexibility

  • Ability to work flexible schedule. Domestic (U.S.) and International (Canada & Europe/Germany) travel is required (up to 20%)
