Under the general direction of the Imaging Operation's Manager and the Director of Imaging, plans, organizes and performs various technical administrative duties within the Ultrasound department under established hospital guidelines.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in a hospital setting.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

  • Registered with ARDMS in breast

Educational Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved school in Ultrasonography or the equivalent experience; maintains current knowledge of new developments and equipment in the field of Ultrasonography.

License/Certification:

  • ARDMS Required

Essential Duties

  • Oversees the scheduling of patients and staff, facilitates workflow in response to emergency needs and insures proper supplies are available for department needs.

  • Analyzes problems, identifies alternatives and recommends appropriate actions to the Director and Operations Manager of Imaging.

  • Participates in developing the yearly budget and shows fiscal responsibility in controlling expenses for this section; explains variances in budget on a monthly basis.

  • Provides guidance and support to staff members, critiques their work and performs annual appraisals in conjunction with radiologists, cardiologists, and Director of Imaging.

  • Responsible to ensure staff is in compliance with mandatory educational requirements, documentation and technical competencies.

  • Maintains proper credentials to perform job; RCS and CPR.

  • Maintains documentation and procedure manuals; insures governmental and regulatory mandates are met.

  • Develops and submits reports in a timely manner.

  • Attends required monthly meetings and insures co-workers are informed of policy and procedure changes in the department.

  • Maintains work areas are in orderly and in clean conditions; insures exam rooms and office areas are clean, properly stocked and exams are completed.

  • Assess patient's pre and post testing; completes required views according to patient history.

  • Insures films are properly marked and cases documented; completes required computer. functions for this job; verifying, tech editing, canceling, providing history and symptoms.

  • Communicates effectively with physicians, supervisors, co-workers, and other health care providers.

  • Adapts to change in a positive manner; is cooperative and supportive as a member of the staff providing feedback to other staff, Director and Assistant Director of Imaging, along with cardiologists.

  • Responsible for general and secondary tests as needed or assigned.
