Summary of Position

The Children's Center at Red Rocks Community College seeks applications for a caring, collaborative, child development focused individual to join our team as a Lead Toddler Preschool Teacher. Under the direction and leadership of the Center Director, the Lead Toddler Preschool Teacher plans and delivers developmentally appropriate activities to provide quality teaching to meet the needs of the children within their care.

Essential Responsibilities

Provides quality teaching by collaborating with Toddler/Preschool Teachers, primary caregivers, families, and The Center Director to meet children's needs in care. Plans and executes developmentally appropriate activities for primary children based on their needs and interests on a weekly basis.

Keeps anecdotal records on each child and provide periodic developmental summaries. Models quality caregiving practices and professional conduct for and mentors Assistant Toddler/Preschool teachers, students in ECE program, and work study students.

Supports family interactions by holding at least two-family conferences a year and conveys written information about each child's development at least bi-monthly. Participates in ongoing professional development in addition to training/development provided by Center.

Responsible for the cleaning, organizing, and repairing of materials and equipment. Keeps all areas of Center, including lounge, storage areas and classrooms uncluttered, clean and organized.

Preferred Qualifications:Membership in or experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of individuals from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to work from campus (primarily our Lakewood campus with occasional hours at the Arvada campus).

Physical and Cognitive Demands:The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • This position operates in a standard office and/or classroom environment. Constantly uses a computer and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc. Requires the repetitious movement of hands, wrists, arms.

  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and children. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

  • Occasionally lifts, moves, positions, and/or transports office equipment, supplies, playground/classroom toys, and/or children weighing up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment and Typical Work Schedule:The Children's Center is open Monday

  • Friday, 7:30am

  • 5:00pm. Employees are scheduled five days per week, between the hours of 7:15am and 5:15pm with an hour lunch, totaling 40 working hours per week.

Starting Salary:Starting salary is determined by education and experience in accordance with our compensation plan.
