Job Duties:
Work with the Product Engineers to coordinate concept development by supporting prototyping: parts sourcing, fabrication, installation and operation
Work with the Product Engineers to develop the test plan and fixtures required
Build and fabricate parts and/or assemblies or testing equipment
Implement and operate test equipment, instrumentation and sensors
Manage prototype/components testing and collect data
Consolidate, analyze, and report test data
Maintain test data for reusable knowledge by Product Engineering team
Develop and maintain standard operating and testing procedures
Read and interpret written specifications, sketches and verbal direction for making sample parts for continuous process, product, and cost improvement activities
Run Model shop equipment: plasma cutter, mill, lathe, drill press, bender, shear, 3D printer and any other equipment within the Model shop
Manage multiple projects in accordance with predetermined completion dates
Build and maintain model shop prototype and testing schedules. Attend project update meetings to keep the schedule up to date
Participate in design and system integration reviews
Recommend design options for fabrication of parts/assemblies/testing equipment
Coordinating 3rd party laboratory testing
Coordinating shipping and receiving of parts and equipment related to prototyping and testing
Supporting changes, maintenance and infrastructure for engineering equipment and model shop
Collaboration with other teams
Work effectively under pressure, highly motivated, exercise good judgment, and maintain confidentiality
Work "hands-on" with other engineering and shop personnel in equipment development
Comply with all applicable OSHA, EPA, local regulatory laws, and company safety policies
Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 year degree from an accredited technical school
Minimum of 5 years as a test engineer or related experience
Skilled in developing test plans and fixtures, operating test equipment, collecting data and analysis of outcomes
Skilled in the use of hand tools and the use and setup of shop tools including: 3D printers, welders, drill presses, lathes, vertical milling machine, handbrakes and power shears
Ability to develop and maintain project timelines
Experience reading electrical prints and wiring accordingly
Mechanical aptitude with ability to complete mathematical calculation as required
Competency in reading and interpreting part drawings and sketches
Experience with 2D/3D CAD, SolidWorks products
Experience in extracting data from MRP/ERP system
Strong communication skills required, both verbal and written
Ability to work well within a team environment
Strong organizational and time management skills
Life-long learner and willing to learn new technologies
Perform the responsibilities of the position at a satisfactory level of efficiency
Maintain a satisfactory attendance record
Must maintain confidentiality of employee, department, and company business
Comply with company rules, policies, and decisions
Physical Requirements
Must stoop, bend, reach, walk; perform repetitive motions using hands to grasp, push, pull or do fine manipulations
Required to stand or sit for prolonged periods
Intermittently lift light to medium weight up to 50 lbs.
