Our Manufacturing Operations teams are the people that make our products. We work in the manufacturing plants with a "Safety First, Quality Always" mindset striving for continuous improvement. We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.
At all times, follow Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to all safety and company policies while performing advanced laboratory services in various manufacturing areas. Some duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Clean work area including floors, walls, tables, etc.
Prepare, clean and sterilize glassware and equipment for use.
Equipment setup and operation.
Perform aseptic procedures including media preparation, antigen inoculation and harvest, tissue culture preparation and harvest, filling vaccines, etc.
Assist with performing non-aseptic procedures including handling of live poultry in the process of harvesting tissue and waste.
Filling, labeling, capping, packaging and inspecting product.
Concurrent record keeping including charts, log books, and all pertinent documentation.
Report all unusual, non-routine occurrences when performing tasks.
Technicians may be responsible for accumulation, labeling and management of hazardous wastes, as appropriate to their area, providing they are properly trained prior to assignment.
Attend training classes, workshops, meetings, etc., as required to improve job skills and product-related procedures.
Demonstrates, at all times, safe work habits and maintains a safe work environment. Understands and complies with all safety and company policies and procedures.
Train, mentor and assist in supervision of other team members within the manufacturing group.
Assist with the direction of others by:
ensuring written procedures are being followed
ensure safety of team members
ensure facility and equipment are properly maintained
participate in special projects as assigned
assist in scheduling work
ensure work is completed and assume supervision when supervision is absent
Assist in weekly reports as assigned.
Education Minimum Requirement:
High School diploma/GED with minimum of 6 years of laboratory or related vaccine production experience OR
Associates degree in biological life sciences field with a minimum of 4 years laboratory or related vaccine production experience OR
Bachelor's degree in biological life sciences field with a minimum of 3 years laboratory or related vaccine production experience
Experience in a laboratory setting preferred
Must have the ability to read, write and understand technical information and to effectively communicate information to colleagues at various levels
Lead Tech is multi-skilled within own product/department and has developed depth/breadth of skills in more than one product/department.
Applies knowledge and skills to other areas within product/department; provides technical guidance and training to others
Anticipates and solves complex production/operational problems
Organizes own time and that of others and may supervise some work of others
Read, write and understand technical information and to effectively communicate information to colleagues at various levels
Perform more advanced mathematical calculations and conversions
Experience leading others.
Experience in Aseptic clean room behaviors
