Position Description
Performs instructional and educational work while serving as a teacher in a classroom/lab. Organizes and develops course work, coordinates classes for students, observes and assesses the needs of the students. Maintains communication both formally and informally with students and other educators. May supervise clerical, professional and/or technical employees and lab students working for college credit.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in English, and native or near-native proficiency in Spanish.
Significant documented experience as a Spanish language educator in a Higher Education setting.
A record of success as an educator with significant experience in teaching Spanish to health professional students.
Experience with innovative teaching methods such as interactive large and small group formats, team-based learning, case-based learning, and problem-based learning.
Training or experience in curriculum development and performance evaluation of health professional students.
Experience with standardized patients and/or clinical simulation.
Participation in national organizations or committees devoted to medical, dental or health professions education.
Evidence of scholarship in medical, dental or health professions education.
Experience in the development of grant proposals and the management of extramural funding.
Ph.D. or equivalent in Spanish, Hispanic Linguistics or related field.
Master's degree in Spanish, Hispanic Linguistics or related field.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; Teacher certification preferred. Three years teaching experience required.
