At A World of Discoveries Daycare, we provide care and education for infants to school-aged children. We are currently searching for the perfect additions to our loving lead teachers, and energetic and dedicated staff.

Furthermore, Our daycare campus includes 3 buildings, with playgrounds, centered in North Central Columbia. We are nestled in a neighborhood between Broadway St. and Hickman High School...just minutes from MU's campus.
Role of the Teacher
- As a teacher, your responsibilities will be as follows
- Be the primary provider for ratio-maintained group of children
- The care, safety, and well-being of all children in the daycare
- Planning and implementing environment to meet the changing needs of the children
- Demonstrating sound knowledge of good teaching practices and child growth and development
- Participating in staff development meetings and on-going training regarding children, the program, and parents
- Providing information to parents regarding their children
- The skills required as a teacher are as follows:
- A good understanding of child growth and development
- Ability to apply this understanding to developmentally appropriate activities
- Ability to work with other adults
- Ability to meet the social-emotional, physical, and developmental needs of children
- Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and pleasant environment
- General knowledge of nutrition, health, and first aid
- Special ability to maintain positive relationships with children, co-workers, and parents
- Ability to move quickly, maintain visual contact with a broad area, and get up and down from the floor quickly
- All staff members will maintain the safety and sanitation of the center. The duties will include but not be limited to:
- Trash removal
- Dusting
- Putting groceries away
- Vacuuming, sweeping and mopping floors
- Dish washing
- Cleaning bathrooms
- Organize rooms
- Labeling materials
- Cleaning walls, cots, windows, classrooms and tables
Requirements
- The teachers position requires at least one of the following education/experiences:
- Associates degree in Child Development of its equivalent
- Appropriate child development courses to meet state requirements
- Prior experience working with children
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- If you are a non-degree seeking student, you need to have at least 3 college credit hours from an appropriate child development course or its equivalent
- If you do not have college credit hours, you must be willing to attend immediately after ire and continue to attend to receive at least 12 credit hours in state approved child development classes
All staff members shall have the following MANDATORY items completed:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a TB and Medical Exam on file with 14 days of employment
- Have 12 in-service hours per year
- Have a Food Handlers Card on file within 30 days of employment and must be updated every 3 years as mandated by the City of Columbia
- Be CPR and First Aid Certified and must be updated every 2 years
