Job Description:
Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert to the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as members of a group
Plan curriculum in detail for assigned classes, with team-teacher if applicable Implement the daily program with the help of a team-teacher or teacher's assistant, if applicable
Arrange for classroom excursions and/or field trips
Enhance the room with appropriate bulletin boards, pictures, children's art work, and other hangings
Supervise children during mealtimes, help serve meals if necessary, and clean up the area afterwards
Keep classrooms, storage rooms, bathroom, and hallway area clean, neat, and orderly
Vacuum and mop classroom and classroom bathroom when necessary Give medication to children as directed in the Medication Policy
Document medication given, diapering, feedings, and naps through childcare software system
Be aware of children as they arrive and depart
Follow licensing regulations regarding student-to-teacher ratios, sleeping procedures, and hygiene procedures for students and staff
Conduct individual conferences with the parents of each child when needed Complete 12 hours of approved educational training, as well as CPR/First Aid training, Health and Safety training, and Medication Administration training
Be familiar with and follow all center policies and procedures
Keep Director informed in advance of all program planning and needed purchases
Report to Director any special needs or problems of individual children
Report to Director any cc1ses of suspected child abuse and/or neglect
Attend regular staff planning and evaluation meetings
Keep in contact with parents by answering any questions they may have, discussing any concerns that they may have, and by sending home daily reports through the childcare software system
Handle discipline promptly and in accordance with stated policy. Use Conscious Discipline techniques daily.
If closing, follow the Visual Check Day procedures before departing the building
Give advance notice of absents when possible
Assist with other duties, as needed or assigned by Director.
