Concord Carousel Preschool has an opportunity for a caring and energetic lead teacher to join our team of educators. Candidates must have a background or experience in early childhood education, with a degree preferred. Candidates are required to meet EEC lead teacher qualifications at the time of application. The ideal candidate is flexible, willing to work as part of team and has the ability to create and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum. The successful candidate will have access to ongoing training and competitive compensation and have the opportunity to enroll their age-appropriate children in our program with no tuition cost and special discounted rates for other programs.

Pay range: $24.50 - $30.00/hour; starting pay based on qualifications. This is an hourly, part-time position. Up to 30 hours per week.

This is a 10-month school year position following the Concord Public School calendar from late September until mid-June. Hours M-F 11:15A-5:15P, additional hours for planning, staff meetings, etc. Excludes school vacation weeks, professional days and holidays.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Childcare Services Manager, Lead Teachers work with a Teacher and are responsibility for the supervision and management of preschool students in the program while maintaining a classroom/group in accordance with the goals and curriculum plans of the Concord Carousel Preschool.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for all children and staff.

  • Plan and implement curriculum, meeting the social-emotional, physical and intellectual needs of the children based on the goals, philosophy and general curriculum plan of the Concord Carousel Preschool Program.

  • Plan and implement routines and develop weekly written lesson plans exhibiting a knowledge of good child development principles.

  • Ensure the health and safety of children through constant supervision, arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment and knowledge of emergency procedures.

  • Utilize positive guidance techniques in accordance with EEC guidelines and Carousel policy.

  • Organize and maintain written records of individual student progress.

  • Communicate with parents and other staff through daily contact, newsletters, and conferences.

  • Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and professional development training, as required by EEC and the Childcare Manager.

  • Provide guidance and direction as the lead of a classroom teaching team.

  • Attend conferences and workshops to achieve personal goals and promote professional growth and to meet professional development requirements.

  • Show awareness of specific individual health plans and comply with plans, including required training (EPI pen administration, insulin pump operation, etc.

  • Exhibit knowledge about and adhere to program policies and procedures, including those for emergencies, medication administration, suspected abuse/neglect and referrals.

  • Operate the classroom/site in compliance with EEC regulations, DOE Standards and QRIS requirements.

  • Comply with personnel policies of the Town of Concord, Concord Recreation and EEC/Childcare Programs.

  • Serve as Administrator, if appointed, in Carousel Director's absence.

RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years of age and have at least a HS diploma.

  • Must have a suitable BRC.

  • Must meet EEC work experience and education requirements for Site Coordinator Qualifications.

  • Bachelor Degree in Education or related field, preferred.

  • Must have completed EEC Essentials Training.

  • Must comply with EEC Background Records Check regulations and Professional Qualification Registry requirements.

  • Must complete a staff orientation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work in a high-energy environment with children ages 2.9 - 5 years.

  • Working knowledge of child development and teaching strategies.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, talk and hear. Uses hands to finger, handles, feels or operates objects, tools or controls and reaches with hands and arms as in picking up paper, files and other common office objects. Employee may infrequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 60 pounds such as tools and supplies, etc.

Operates computer, printer, video display terminal, keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier, facsimile machine and all other standard office equipment requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. Balancing, crouching, grasping, pulling, reaching and stooping may also be required.
