What you will do

Under specific direction, assists in the design, configuration, and operation of building systems including security, fire, and other low voltage control sub-systems (ie. lighting, nurse call, data networks, etc) to meet the intent of the project requirements. Assists in the development of software programs, commissioning and troubleshooting to ensure proper operations of the building control system. Provides detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, Johnson Controls field installation team and subcontractors.

How you will do it

  • Design and configure technically complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required.

  • Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system per the intent of the project requirements.

  • Use your ability to integrate different Security subsystems with each other.

  • Coordinate and create the necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.

  • Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinate factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule.

  • Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assist in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.

  • Provide field change information to the project team for the creation of as-built drawings and software.

  • Keep management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.

  • Assist in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on the total building control system.

  • Participate in release meeting with project field team. Perform value engineering to provide cost effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.

  • Adhere to safety standards. Operate with a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.

What we look for

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of three years experience, or a technical diploma in a related technical field with five years of relevant work experience required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the construction and Security & Fire Alarm industry.

  • Demonstrated experience in the integration of Security & Fire Alarm of building sub-systems. Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.

  • Demonstrated advanced computer skills required, particularly computer-related drafting tools.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge of all Security & Fire Alarm building automation systems and other building subsystems highly desired.

Converts product requirements into total system solutions, leads trade studies, and implements common work practices. Primary Responsibilities: * Executes objectives for requirements management, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, evaluation measurements, and other disciplines for large or complex projects. * Monitors the cost, effectiveness, and reliability of activities and recommend modifications to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and ensure that standards are met * Manages work-processes, optimization methods, and risk management tools for large or complex projects. * Researches and evaluates investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization's systems products and services. * Provides analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and develops verification criteria and plans for the requirements * Performs analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. * Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. * Considers and evaluates alternatives accounting for similar metrics. * Manages configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. * Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. * Performs architectural exploration. * Decomposes customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: * This position requires a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required. Preferred Qualifications: * Technical background with strong analytical skills * Dedication and ability to work independently supporting field activities * System knowledge of military or commercial jet engine controls * Control Systems hardware/software analysis and electronic/mechanical troubleshooting skills. * Ability to pass a background check for DoD security clearance * Previous Linux scripting experience desired.
