The Lead Systems Engineer will be a part of the Space Superiority analysis team in the Virtual Warfare Center in Seal Beach, CA.
We are seeking a creative and highly-motivated lead systems engineer who is interested in working difficult problems at the front end of the business. The Space Superiority team is responsible for producing constructive and virtual analysis for future space control concepts, capabilities and architectures.
The position will support the development of modeling and simulation (M&S) and scenarios for the space control mission area.
The Lead Systems Engineer will be responsible for the following:
Leads and delivers customer focused constructive analysis and modeling and simulation to address a variety of capability gaps within the Space Superiority mission area.
Works with United State Government (USG) government customers, Boeing leadership, and software engineers to translate high level customer requirements into specific work packages and detailed hardware and software requirements for operator-in-the-loop (OITL) simulations.
Oversees execution of the effort to include planning, scoping, development, testing, analysis, implementation, schedule and reporting.
Leads a team of engineers as well as provides support to other teams as dictated by mission needs and coach and mentor junior engineers.
Uses the observations derived from the analysis to inform investments at Boeing Defense, Space & Security group and drive Phantom Works capture strategy.
Engages with internal and external customers, and is expected to present findings from analysis to those customers.
Supports new business pursuits including white papers and proposals.
Utilizes working knowledge of mission level analysis tools, such as STK or other simulation tools or computer programming, is required, as is MATLAB.

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
This position requires an Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
This particular opening requires a current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, mathematics, physics or related technical field.
Minimum 10 years of working experience in engineering
Experience using MATLAB
Experience with spacecraft design, spacecraft operations, high fidelity spacecraft simulations and space situational awareness.
Experience coaching or mentoring junior level engineers.
Experience leading cross functional teams.
Candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently without direct supervision, and also with a distributed team to develop end products.
