Job Summary and Mission

This position contributes to Starbucks success by leading the identification, definition, and delivery of technology operations projects and solutions within the Starbucks Technology Operations Center (STOC). The STOC provides 24x7 global support for technology services provided to our customers, stores, roasting plants, and geo-distributed Starbucks partners (employees).

As the Lead Analyst, you will be responsible for the overall success of projects you manage, gather requirements, and work with teams on the tactical implementation of monitoring, data analytics, dashboards, and reporting solutions. You will lead cross functional teams consisting of IT staff, business stakeholders, and leadership using a mix of traditional project management and Agile / Scrum practices as we build and implement a more progressive end-to-end Event Management and Monitoring strategy.

Additionally, you will work with technology leaders and teams to ensure the solutions being delivered provide relevant metrics and dashboards, which enable reliable decision-making at different levels across the Starbucks Technology organization.

This role continues to build upon a focus of business and system health, which requires the ability to understand how various systems and performance monitoring metrics' data and information are centrally-gathered, analyzed, and interpreted in detail to isolate key risks, concerns, or issues. The candidate for this role will have a combination of project management and hands-on technical skills to help with the implementation and configurations of solutions.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide tactical and strategic leadership, planning and day-to-day management of one or more cross-functional projects within the technology portfolio.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the projects within the program and the broader technology portfolio; managing assigned projects with a clear understanding of business and technology context, developing a deep understanding of cross-program portfolio synergies and dependencies.

  • Lead high performing, cross-functional and potentially, globally distributed teams.

  • Analyzes, and directs solution requirements for complex projects. Leads user story creation and backlog grooming in an agile delivery environment.

  • Leads definition of scope and the development of work plans, estimates, and timelines.

  • Leads requirements elicitation, user story creation, and backlog grooming for medium-high complexity cross functional projects.

  • Utilizes techniques to lead business and system process design and re-engineering for medium-high complexity cross functional projects.

  • Coordinates across teams and leverages relevant process and technology proficiency to propose options and recommend optimal solution(s).

  • Proactively identifies and effectively assesses improvement opportunities (productivity/efficiency gains, cost savings, etc.).

  • Partner with the technical lead to build dashboards, reports, and monitoring solutions in a large enterprise environment.

  • Create standards for onboarding applications and services to use monitoring solutions.

  • Be an evangelist for monitoring and performance metrics, educate internal customers on the tools and metric that would help reduce downtime and root cause analysis

  • Establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology partners.

  • Conceives, proposes and influences new ideas and gains alignment on decisions within and outside team; usually armed with a known skill-set, competency or tool and is aware of the bigger picture in a domain.

  • Research, evaluate and perform POCs of vendor solutions

  • Conduct presentations and provide training on tool usage

  • Lead Data Analytics Forums involving cross-functional teams

  • Contributes to new initiatives by providing expertise and experience with limited direction from Manager; Self-directed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 10 years combined Information Technology experience

  • 2 years leading project or functional teams

  • 2 years of experience managing complex, large-scale projects, including all elements of scope, time, cost, quality, risk, integration, and communications within a technology environment

  • 5 years of experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures

  • 5 years' continuous improvement mindset resolving complex problems and improving business results

  • 5 years' demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, cross functional team environment

  • 3 years of experience as a project manager in technology or a software development setting

  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with technology projects within fast-paced, enterprise technology organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communications, proven ability to develop and deliver presentations geared for all levels of the organization

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Project management soft skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams and coach others in complex situations and scenarios.

  • Prefer experience leading projects that are geo-located

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Microsoft Project Professional and Microsoft SharePoint.

  • Experienced with Project Portfolio Management tools such as Microsoft Project

  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills

  • Interest in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.

  • Proven ability to translate insights into business recommendations

  • Knowledge in application development and supporting a development environment

  • Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology partners

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity

  • Ability to deliver tangible business results

  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities.

  • Working knowledge of all facets of systems development and operations.

  • Familiar with monitoring, logging, and APM tools such as New Relic, Splunk, DataDog, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Sumo Logic, etc.

  • Build and maintain customer relationships across multiple technical and business teams

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment.

  • Ownership and leadership skills to coordinate projects across multiple teams and drive them to a successful conclusion

  • Develop, measure, and report process performance and functional metrics to identify opportunities, measure success, or validate expected outcomes

The FAS Accounting and Budget Services (ABS) Division provides services to the department and 15 small executive offices. ABS is seeking an accomplished and high performing Lead Finance Analyst with a strong customer service orientation. The Lead Finance Analyst performs a variety of professional finance functions and tasks to support the small executive offices and FAS and reports to the Deputy Division Director in the FAS Accounting and Budgeting Services (ABS) Division. Job Responsibilities: The Lead Finance Analyst will have unique, high level and specific finance knowledge, be highly organized and detail-oriented and display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. The person in this position will have the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and the experience to perform the following work assignments: * Act as a consultant in facilitating and/or assisting budget development and management including budget monitoring and reporting for 15 small departments of ~$100 million. Provide technical and financial advice in other areas as needed such as advising departments regarding proposed legislation. * Address and make recommendations on complex technical budget and/or accounting issues including review and research of relevant law and regulations, and accounting/financial system requirements. * Prepare financial reports and perform relevant financial and accounting research and analysis.
