Lead System Integrator - Gladiator

Function Overview

As a Lead System Integrator for Gladiator, you will be responsible for helping shape the future of Gladiator garage organization. You'll be leading projects, holding brainstorm sessions, working with procurement to bring on new suppliers and collaborating with marketing to scope new products that delight our consumers. You'll have responsibility for some of our most critical product lines and everyday you'll have opportunities to live your passion for developing and delivering world class products.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical aspects of Gladiator (Garage Storage Solutions) projects

  • Own the technical requirements for your assigned product categories, including Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&Rs), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEAs), Drawing Release, Safety Audits, Global Product Approval (PAs), etc.

  • Interact with a cross-functional team (Marketing, Procurement, Project Management, Validation Engineering and Suppliers) to launch products

  • Maintain the current products on the market. Be the engineering expert for your assigned product categories.

  • Develop and maintain technical aspects of project schedules and align with broader project schedules.

  • Translate product requirements into engineering specifications

  • Travel to SE Asia several times per year.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • 8+ years' experience in engineering

  • Experience in product development and project management

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Consumer products design; Furniture, cabinet, storage product design a plus.

  • Experience leading projects with international supply base including solving design, manufacturing and assembly issues.

  • Engineering and PD skill set including: DFM, DFA, GD&T, BOM structures, stress/strain analysis (FEA), product testing, tolerance stack-ups, product costing, DFMEA, etc.

  • Experience in designing components for a variety of manufacturing processes; Understanding of metal part design and structures a plus.

  • Self-starter with the capability to work across functional boundaries to solve problems.

  • Experience directing the work of other technical team members - both internally and externally.

  • 3D CAD experience

IoT Developer Lead - Cloud Functional Overview: As we say in Whirlpool, there's never a dull moment in the Internet of Things (IoT) & Whirlpool. Today, you may be getting a new Application Programming Interface (API) created for an awesome new feature that will enhance consumer experience and tomorrow you might be providing your input towards available solutions for the feature or you will have your hands dirty while solving a very complex issue along with the cloud developers. You will most likely be working with an IoT Product Owner, Tech Lead and Technical Architect on a global project with the cross-functional development and testing teams. On most efforts, you will report directly to the Whirlpool's Global Information System IoT Product Manager. Job Responsibilities: * Translate, high-level technical stories into operational tasks for estimation and development as part of Agile Sprint * Develop Technical specification for the services and modules that you develop * Using the experience of Software Development Life Cycle, Agile methodology and understanding the project timeline, take required technical decisions to keep the project on track * Develop unit test cases for the services and modules that you develop * Work with the project team to identify intermittent defects and debug identified ones * Involving in design discussions and providing suggestion * Perform peer-to-peer code reviews and guide the team on improvements * Owning the project, solve the technical issues of the development and testing team * Follow best practices of cloud offerings * Attend all scrum ceremonies * Assist with Root cause analysis on missed or leaked defects Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor's degree * 5+ years of experience in Information Systems or Engineering * 3+ years of experience in developing/executing distributed systems with a focus on building the Internet of Things (IoT) applications Preferred Requirements: * Knowledge of various programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript * Knowledge of various technologies such as Microservices, web services, Representational State Transfer (RESTful) Application Programming Interface (APIs), Message Broker Interface, etc. * Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) * Experience in one or many areas of the machine interaction model, Rule Engines, Big Data, etc. * Good working experience on Spring Model View Controller (MVC) and Spring Boot frameworks and message queues * Work experience using various databases-Relational and Not Only SQL (NoSQL) * Preferable knowledge of infrastructure components (e.g., Cloud Management, Server/Storage configurations) * Experience with industry-scale IoT solutions on at least one cloud platform such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Bluemix, etc. * Experience with DevOps tools used for Code Integration/Code Deployment * Excellent analytical, debugging and problem-solving ability * Detail-oriented, work under deadline pressure and have the ability to deliver on time * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to work as a team player and lead a team to build innovative Internet Protocol (IP) solutions that showcase thought-leadership and creativity * Passionate about learning new technologies and creating an innovative solution * Understanding of Change Management Process RSRWH About us Whirlpool Corporation (NYSE: WHR) is the world's leading major home appliance company, with approximately $21 billion in annual sales, 92,000 employees and 70 manufacturing and technology research centers in 2017.
