As our Lead Substation Designer/Assistant Manager Distribution Engineering, you will support mission critical operations and EPC Projects. You will support multiple projects simultaneously given direction from a lead engineer or project manager. You will be working in small project teams to provide exceptional customer service and quality in deliverables to our clients.

Responsibilities

Other responsibilities include:

• Prepare construction drawings, documents, calculations, and studies for medium and high voltage substation projects.
• Responsible for technical delivery of power delivery engineering projects or tasks.
• Prepare calculations, studies, and reports for substation and power systems projects meeting internal and client standards and requirements.
• Apply engineering design principles and practices including formulas.
• Work with small project teams to execute substation projects.
• Responsible for providing weekly updates to team leaders and/or project managers on milestone progress, estimated completion dates including percent completion of activities and supporting information to monitor project progress.
• Assist in the management of the Southwest Distribution Engineering Team by providing guidance to staff, monitor staff performance, assist in assignment of work to staff, support training, retention and hiring efforts, and support business development efforts to meet sales targets of the Southwest Distribution Engineering Team.

Qualifications

We are seeking the following qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in the Substation Design/Power Delivery Field.
• Experience with high voltage substation design (15kV through 500kV) activities such as preparing one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics and wiring diagrams, physical layouts, electrical elevations, plans (foundation, grounding, and raceway), and bills of materials including selection of non-standard equipment.
• Ability to interpret and apply standards including IEEE, IEC, NESC, and client standards.
• Experience with power system calculations (AC panel sizing, DC panel and battery sizing, Voltage Drop Calculations, Cable Sizing, etc.) is a plus.
• Knowledge of substation physical equipment is required.
• Knowledge of Protection and Controls design is required.
• S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is a plus.
• Associate's degree in technical field is required.
